I checked with CIMB staff at Pavilion, its 0% interest BT is a real 0%. That means you only need to pay minimum every month and settle in full in the 6th month. I would say it is the best BT in the market.

for citibank, they have a good offer for BALANCE CONVERSION

you can convert your existing balance of your citibank cc at 9.88% pa interest
this is  good option to split the payments into installments max 3 years. can less the burden.
*
Are you kidding? You consider 9.88% per annum a good offer? CIMB/DA offers you 0% interest for 6 months and 1% for 1 year.

If OCBC, Public and Maybank also offer 0% interest for BT + 0 handling fee + 0% interest if pay minimum during BT tenure, i want to apply all of them. i can then do BT from my current CitiBank to CIMB 6 months, then OCBC 6 months, then Public 6 months , then Maybank 3 months. My money $$ will keep growing in FD for another 21 months !  drool.gif
*
I know CIMB does not accept BT from another bank.

QUOTE(samquah @ Oct 5 2010, 04:07 PM)
anyone know how long pb will do the balance transfer?

say if i fax the form on mon, when will they pay my cc?
*
I am not sure about PBB. CIMB normally takes 7 days to approve and transfer the amount.

The fax number is stated clearly on the BT application form. doh.gif

winner,

meaning cimb only do BT for their own card?
*
QUOTE(cannavaro @ Oct 20 2010, 08:19 PM)
Not sure what you're trying to say here but the point of balance transfer IS transferring your debts/outstanding balance from another bank.
I transferred my EONbank balance to CIMB btw
*
What I meant was that, last time CIMB did not allow you to transfer your existing BT account with other bank to CIMB BT account. Other banks may allow you to do that.

Yes, I would say CIMB's BT is the best in town. CIMB/DA credit cards have nothing to attract me except their BT promotion and package.

is CIMB balance transfer still official, I just went to a branch, he said, it's over according to the leaflet. I don't own any CIMB card,

is Public Bank balance transfer better in the sense now. need advice. thank you.
*
CIMB BT promotion, namely 0% interest for 6 months and 1% for 12 months without any handling fees, is running till 31/12/2010.

The good thing about CIMB BT programme is that a separate account will be created for BT. Besides, there is no interest charged as long as you pay minimum every month and settle the amount in full in the 7th month. I reckon CIMB BT programme is the best so far.

to substantiate what i say, see attached

Applicable only to new cardmembers whose credit card account has been opened for less than 3 months.

The CIMB BT programme and DA BT programme are totally different.
*
The current 0% interest for 6 months for CIMB BT, as well as DA BT, are applicable to all new and existing CIMB and DA cardholders.

erm... i also quite blur how BT works... lets say if my CC 3k CL... den fully usage d.... n 1 do a BT... den my CC 3k CR still can use??? full 3k or will b less?
*
If you have an available CL of RM3,000 and you do BT of RM3,000. Then your CL is fully utilised and the available CL is zero. CIMB and DA allow you to utilise 100% of your available CL to do BT.

CIMB/DA allows you to do that.

Then again there are a few of us here who take "advantage" of the 0% BT and earn some pocket money.
*
That's true. I just transferred a total amount of RM80,000 from my SCB JustOne Titanium and SCB World MC to DA VI last month. I am going to do another BT from OCBC Titanium to DA VI this December. I have money to settle all the outstanding balance but since DA is offering me 0% interest for 6 months without any handling or upfront fees, I can delay paying in full and my money can earn some interest in FD!

I am just curious whether if one can Balance Transfer the Balance Transfer or not. Now Maybank 12 month Balance Transfer is so tempting.

I don't plan to do BT the BT, just curious, still waiting Ambank to CIMB BT.
*
I was told by CIMA/DA that CIMB/DA does not accept BT to BT.

BT war amongst banks has started. I bet it'll extend. Maybe won't be immediately extended but an improved version of BT, LOL. 0% for one whole year, booyah!
*
However, most of them do have operate CIMB/DA which creates a separate account for BT. This could avoid unnecessary interest charged.

Can i BT to my existing CIMB card? Even if the available balance in the CIMB CC is insufficient to cover the 7k from HSBC?
*
CIMB accepts BT which uses 100% of your available CL in your CIMB cc. However, if you wish to do BT of RM7,000 from HSBC to CIMB and the available CL of your CIMB cc is less than RM7,000, then you cannot do BT for the full RM7,000 to your CIMB cc.

Anyone knows if i can make a balance transfer to the same card twice ? HSBC is currently offering a 0% BT with no upfront fee. I am thinking to do a BT from my Citibank VISA. I have two Citibank credit cards. Both come with different statement date.
*
For CIMB/DA, it can be done. I had done a BT of RM80,000 (partial downpayment for a new house via SCB cc) to DA in October. I have just submitted another BT application for an amount of approximately RM10,000 from OCBC to DA. I have money reserved in FD form but since I can get 0% interest for 6 months, there is no harm to let my money grows further and delay the payment.

QUOTE(mitodna @ Dec 18 2010, 12:59 AM)
CIMB replied, there is no cheque. They mentioned they had transfer the money to other bank. They create a new virtual CC account for balance transfer. Can view from online too. Kind of cool.

Had to check with the other bank whether they receive the money or not.
*
The money will usually be transferred via IBG. For my case, it took about a week for the whole process, i.e, from submission of BT application to DA to official receipt of BT fund for SCB.

Thanks. Gonna try ...

One good thing about the BT programme from CIMB/DA is that they allow you to fully utilise the available CL of your CIMB/DA cc for the BT amount. For instance, if your CIMB's available CL is RM100,000, you can then do BT from other banks (could be more than a bank) for a cumulative amount of no more than RM100,000 to CIMB. Meanwhile, most other banks do not allow BT amount of 100% your available CL, e.g, OCBC 60% and Amex 70%.

I applied for DA's BT via fax on 16/12. DA has approved my application and transfered the money to OCBC on 22/12. This is my second BT with DA since September this year.

I guess CIMB/DA will extend the 0% interest BT again in January.

its better if u go to any bank branch and apply for BT and told them its urgent. ask them to help u to fax the form and call the CS whether they receive it or not
*
I would be much better and faster if your fax the form together with your statement to the designated fax number for BT yourself.

Ok i just got a CIMB cc. Izzit wise to BT transfer to this new card or just cancel my other card and slowly pay what i owe to that cc?
*
Safest option, clear all cc debts by paying off all the outstanding balance.

For the past 4 BT with CIMB, it has been pleasant experience as they always settle the Giro payment on time even though the due date was just 10 days away.

I have thus far done 2 BTs with DA. Both were done (with money transferred) within a week from the day I submitted the application by fax.

For CIMB, 100% of available CL is allowed for BT programme.
