hi guys...so i was wondering, can the wii get access to external usb dvd drive the way it access the other usb portable gadgets?

been so long since i use my wii, so yesterday i tried to put in my game disc but i found out my dvd drive got something stuck in it (my daughter put in a small creditcard like item in it T_T). so is there any way i can find some work around this problem? any homebrew app i can use?

I'm sure I have heard people using pendrive to play their Wii games, but I'm not sure if it's allowed to be discussed in here unsure.gif

Just discuss on the boundary that it will be used to play original dvds and not back ups isos. sad.gif I know ppl use usb HDD to play backups..hence, why i am asking about using portable usb dvd drive and not using HDD smile.gif.

BTW, just out of the box, can wii access anything from an external usb dvd drive?

It will be an easy fix (if any) to anyone having the same problem as mine but didn't want to send the wii for repairs. I hv a portable dvd drive, that's why I want to know if this solution is applicable.

is it possible to access my original games from a portable usb DVD drive?

ok update..

miraculously..the foreign item came out...an ESSO Smile card. shakehead.gif

the drive can still read the disc but have to try a few times until the drive accepts the disc fully with confirmation from the blue light on entry point blinking.

it seems that the incident made the drive harder to accept n eject the disc inside, but for now it can still do its job. sweat.gif

1. one portable usb dvd drive
2. a homebrew channel installed on your wii with a homebrew loader program to read your disc (i won't name it)

it works!
