they have increased to 5 years 200,000 i think....don't worry...u worried about resale value? buy civic...definitely focus resale value will not be as good as civic...but then...it will not be bad too...don't stick to old ideas...the seniors will tell u to buy toyota n honda simply because back in their days the resale value is much better...however, ford is expanding very rapidly in malaysia, proof? the number of fiestas on the road, resale values increase along with demand...with such high demand for ford cars...the resale value will no doubt increase

Only the warranty period is extended to 5 years / 200,000km. eric84cool was asking about maintenance cost after the 3 years free maintenance period.

really very hard to choose .
Fiesta 1.4 manual or 1.6 Sport ??100% city drive , PJ to KL av weekday working hour.
Original plan was 1.4 , but after think think and calculate, 1 month pay more hundred plus to  get 1.6 sport. which worth leh ?
*
1.4 no voice control, no USB and no steering mounted HU control. It also doesn't have ESC+TC, foglights, . But but but but....1.4 have 7 airbags.

While common sense dictate if driven in congested traffic everyday you should pick auto. But honestly when stuck in jams, the 6 spd DCT isn't exactly smooth and comfortable either. Although if you manage to tame it it is less fatigue-inducing as a manual.

dual clutch sure will "experience" that?  ohmy.gif
will that be annoying?  shocking.gif
will it disappear after sometimes?  sweat.gif

Like what old1030 said, it is the nature of dual clutch, at least for the Fiesta powershift. I read that it is true for any DCT, including VW's.

Here's a read up

QUOTE
Powershift transmission common sounds a driver may notice are:

• Double clicking metal sounds. These noises can likely be heard while driving on very smooth surfaces during a 1-2 upshift or a 3-2-1coast down. The sounds occur with every gear engagement, but generally cannot be heard over the background engine, road and wind noises at higher speeds. Most noticeable if the windows are down and the radio is off, these sounds are of the shift forks moving and the synchronizers engaging a gear (similar to a manual transmission). These shifting sounds are part of normal operation.

• Coast down whine. A slight gear whine while slowing or coasting is normal.

• Clicking sounds after the engine is turned off. As the vehicle is powered down, the transmission will cycle the clutches to the released position so it is ready for a safe restart of the engine. This is part of normal operation. Clicking sounds from the transmission immediately after the engine is turned off are normal.

• Low speed grinding. A slight grinding noise may be heard at about 2 MPH. This noise is more evident during “trailer-hitching” events (see below). This noise is caused by a normal bearing rotation and does not affect the durability of the transmission.

• Reverse gear whine. Some PowerShift transmissions will exhibit gear whine in reverse. The level of whine has been significantly reduced in later build vehicles, but can still be detected to some level. This is characteristic of many manual transmissions, and is not a defect or a situation in which a repair should be attempted.

• Trailer-hitching feel. Some customers may experience a trailer-hitching feel (or a slight bumping feel). The trailer-hitching feel may occur in lower forward gears – particularly if the customer is off and on the throttle quickly. It may be more noticeably in a parking lot or when a customer is doing multiple on/off throttle pedal maneuvers. This trailer-hitching/engagement feel is a normal characteristic of the dry clutch-equipped manual transmission design. Conversely, conventional automatic transmissions are equipped with a torque converter. The torque converter is a fluid coupling device which dampens these positive engagements feels.

Yep. If you hear grinding and clicking sounds, that means you're a proud owner of a high tech dual clutch tranny.

Fck those quiet 4AT torque converters!!

1.4 is manual, don't have dual-clutch. Dual clutch is for automatic only.

Just tested the Ford Fiesta 1.6 auto today at Jln Ipoh. Ride comfort is decent but the car is slowwwww. No omph when accelerating and the so called double clutch gearbox just feels like any ordinary gearbox.
*
hmm.gif hmm.gif
You are comparing to other 1.6 NA cars, right?

I've driven a 1.6 4G18 Waja and a 1.6 CVT Saga, the Fiesta definitely performs on-par, if not better than both. In fact one of the reason I bought the Fiesta is because it performs reasonably well during test drives and I don't have to pay more road tax.

As for the dual-clutch, What were your expectations?

0-100km/h (62MPH) in 9s

hey bro. dont mean to offend any fiesta owners here. Its just didnt deliver to my expectations. As for the Fiesta's dual clutch i was comparing with the VW's DSG while the 1.6MPI Polo sedan felt more responsive and tourqy than the Fiesta's 1.6 engine. Other than that, i guess its a decent car to drive.
*
Don't get me wrong, I'm not offended in anyway. smile.gif

I was just curious as to what you were comparing with. For me, as far as 1.6 NA goes, it is not the fastest but it is definitely not the slowest either. You're right the Fiesta Powershift is not as lightning quick as the DSG, though. Nonetheless I find it to be more efficient than a torque converter AT.

But I'm the kind who usually sticks to the middle lane, so for the occasional sprint it's good enough for me. thumbup.gif

Its the show car lol not my car, i dont own focus.

All three i look in boot and spare tyre compartment. But i didnt check under the spare tyre, i dont want to force the SA to dismantle the securing arrangement tongue.gif
So it might be there.

If Focus's is anything like Fiesta's, then everything is hidden under the spare tyre.

I noticed my FoFo is abit hard to control at low gear... rpm always at around 1.5-2 whenever I'm going like 5-20km and at times the car jerks, or suddenly accelerates fast. Instantaneous fuel consumption shows around 20-30l/100km even sometimes when I'm not even pressing the pedal

Kinda worries me, not sure if it's because the car is still new (around 1000 km, not yet serviced for the first time)

Yes, it seems the powershift becomes some sort of retard at low speed, it cant decide when is the best time to upshift, the smoothness of the gearbox only comes at high speed.

If you live in my condo and every nite you see a car moving very slowly in the parking basement, but the engine is roaring like an idiot, that would be my Fiesta sleep.gif

how about the engine...is this new ecoboost engine will coming to msia?...is it worth to wait this new facelift with new engine or just grab the current one....
*
The 1.0 ecoboost may be the clincher for many who are on the fence between the Fiesta and other competitors in this market, that said I have no idea when it will come in, if ever, and the matter of price is also a question.

And I still really, really dislike the new front grille tongue.gif . One of the reasons why I grabbed the current one instead of waiting for the facelift. I wonder if they will bring in the ST hmm.gif
