Erm... meaning that those first products touted "the first XXX in the world" are of odd dimension and the later ones are back to the standard sizes?
*
When tech improve, the were able to shrink size or increasing the density of the platter in the HDD. Therefore, the newer 1TB 2.5" HDD will come as 9.5mm like current laptop's HDD size as they were able to produce a higher density platter. A 2X500GB platters will enable a HDD to produces in the thickness of 9.5mm while a 3X333GB platters will only feasible in a HDD with the thickness of 12.7mm. This is the reason that 2.5" HDD always behind in term of capacity behind their 3.5" counterpart which can accomodate more and bigger platters.

Additional: The Samsung 1TB HDD looks good. It is about 30% faster than my Toshiba 1TB HDD based on the CrystalDiskMark seq result.

I'm considering to apply thermal paste. And put that Bigfoot Wireless N Killer network card.Anyone know if we can buy that bigfoot online?
*
I don't think the network card will be recognised by the laptop. The laptop will only recognised those network card included in the BIOS "White List"

heat r still the major problem for HP made lappie
my new DV6108 temperature running on 55+- when doing work
but the temperature shoot up to 85+- when I play games, and it's just Winning Eleven 2011, not those super hardcore games... and my palm can feel the heat significantly from my HD and top left corner of my keyboard
*
Did you set your CoolSense to Cool? 2720QM is suppose to be running hotter than 2630QM on idle. The warm feeling on the top left is because it where the hot air is being vent out. Based on the location of HDD, it actually very near the processor location, plus it a 12.7mm thick hence 6108TX HDD temp is usually slightly higher than it brethren.

I thought idle should be the same, only on load its higher..
Since both should be running @800MHz at idle..
*
Either my background program (I didn't uninstall any program) causes slightly higher idle temp or the original thermal paste were not applied correctly. My idle temp did drop a few degree after new thermal application.

i wanted to ask u guys 1 question, that is abt the beats headphones. can i top up maybe rm100 and get the solo hd instead of the solo?
*
I don't think that is possible. It's better to buy your laptop without a Beats Solo or sold off your Beats Solo and get yourself a Solo HD instead.

I think the consensus is around RM 500. You can search around the garage sales and see what are the price they offer out (those who bought it with DV6, not those who sell the retail/AP version).

Set your laptop to high performance fixed mode before taking a GPU-Z screenshot. For a 2G variant, that screen shot value ridiculously low.

to use this laptop audio jack i really need to use the beats headphones...? my normal headphones not working...

No need. Any headphone or earphone with a 3.5mm jack will do fine.

Try set the headphone & speaker to default.
Make sure you plug your headphone jack on the right connector.
2 connector are for audio output and the other one is for audio input.

The one nearest to the USB port is the audio in (microphone) jack and the other two is the audio out jack.
I think the 11.5b is the most stable driver. So far I don't have any problem with it although I don't play much game so far.

Bros, anyone knows who are the producers for our lcd ?
from device manager our hardware id's value is : MONITOR\CMO15A2
My friend did a comparison and said ours was from Chi Mei a China company.
He was using a XPS 15, but if I'm not mistaken he's was from Korea.
My question is, is our current resolution 720p ?
Could we get a 1080p monitor and replace it with our current one ?
Is the China's company lcd reliable ?
Thanks. biggrin.gif

but the laptop is 1 month old+, the vents cannot be clogged that fast?

The fan could be dying. How's your temp?
I think the fan in rurushu's DV6 were changed by the HP technician when he brought it to the center for the temp problem.

Is this laptop able to change one keyboard button instead of changing the whole keyboard?

Note: Space bar button.

I think you'll need to change the whole keyboard.

This is weird. before this I used my CQ40+W7 64Bit+4G Ram to run a simulation software. I working fine, until my simulation start to become to huge for the 2 Core, 2.0GHz, 800MHz processor.
Then I change to this DV6. Since this is the first Intel for me, I a bit skeptical (yea, I the red fan boy). With high hope, (who shouldn't) with it Quad Core, 2.0GHz, 1333MHz + turbo boost capability, I try the same simulation on it.
Surprise, surprise.... the software do not recognize Intel i Core processor yet. (what!!) It running, but when it want to simulate, it will search for the processor and identify it, but it fail there. So, not simulation with this software for me.
Well, not to blame anyone. People already using AMD 64Bit technology for their system as Intel insist to use it along with AMD. Now, as time passes, 64Bit software had mature with AMD style. So, I just one thing to say..............

Intel, Y U NO > 9,000????!!!!!!
*
Update your BIOS to at least F14 and then enable the Virtualisation in the BIOS. Try to run your simulation programme again. See if this method help.

^ which model? 6114TX or 6001TX?
*
Most probably 6114TX. If not, the cooler, mouse and pendrive are not considered as free items.

how come when i wanna transfer some 1 big file from internal to my external, it cant be transfered?? how to fix it??
*
It depends on the partition format of your external HDD, FAT32 or NTSF. FAT32 format limit the size of a single file to a maximum fo 4Gb. If you want to store a file bigger than 4 Gb, you'll either have to reformat your external HDD to NTSF format or break up your file to smaller size before transferring to the external HDD.

so means i need to change to another brand?
or send my laptop to warranty?

Did you insert the RAM correctly, especially the inner slot?
If you are sure that the RAM were inserted correctly and tighten, then the problem is most probably RAM incompatibility.
