I was told that no one does renovation during the month of August which is the ghost festival. Is it true? Why is it and what will happen?

you should select 8.8.11 for start work maybe =)

If the renovation already on going than is OK, else normal people will be preventing include the contractor, but it still depend on what type of job.

Its a full renovation starting on the week of the ghost festival. Contractor said they don't care, it depends on the owner. Wouldn't know if contractor didn't mention. I wish he didn't tell me, because now I get conscious!!

some contractors refuse to work during that period but if urs ok den OK lo. U can start reno like eclipse-space 8/8/2011. You read it backwards "Yat Yat Yee Fatt Fatt" = ez to get rich ahhaa

May be all the sound of pounding and hacking will chase all the ghosts away! It is amazing how superstitious can people be in these days and age ....

Need to consider, this year August 2011 is also puasa month. Muslim Indon workers puasa, less energy so work slooowwwww...

Sorento is made in China, same goes to Rubine and FOtile. Both Sorento and Fotile are reliable and durable. U can view the prices in my facebook to do some comparison and for budgeting. However, it would b best if u can drop by my showroom and get some idea on how to reno, then come 2nd time to confirm the items.

I was told by contractor that its ok to start reno work on 12th or 14th of 7th Lunar month, is this true? Need adv cos running short of time.

If you believe in FS, select a good date. FS not depend on Ghost month, is nothing to do with Ghost month. If you don't believe, any day is a good day to start.

Just to share, this year ghost month is on 14th, not on 13th. Somehow 13th is good day. Try avoid 14th do work after 5pm.

Chinese 14th - July (Lunar Date) is this Saturday, full moon is Sunday.

Can you tell me using what method do you define 14th 5pm is not a good time to start?

14th August, Sunday, usually nobody works on that day, even contractors (especially in USJ, its the law).

I am refering do not work after 5pm. Sorry if mislead u. Chinese 14th is sat, which suppose to be ghost festives, but was told this year is on chinese 15th which is sunday. I taught to avoid sat for my minor reno, hence now I do it on sat instead. Even so, I will ask my contractor to stop work by 5pm..

I guess everyone who is doing an August renovation can share their experience after completion. I just started mine a few days ago.

I think 14th of ghost festival should avoid doing anything le. 1st and 14th is to honour the 'supernatural being'. U go knock knock so noisy disturb them..i don't think they will like it.

Gulp...Everything and anything. Definitely gonna have hacking work. No choice, timeline don't allow me to do after August and I only recently got to know about this 'issue'. Well, 14th is a Sunday and contractors don't work on Sunday...so... And I'm sure there are still plenty of constructions going on during this period... In other words I won't be the only one disturbing

Funny...It shoud end on 14th day (door close), why it indicated the worst and strong are on 16 day?

For those who didn't undertandard Chinese.
1) the most strong ghost day will be 15th Aug (Chinesi calander July 16)
2) Hence good to back home before 5pm
3) to avoid bad thing, dress Red colour
4) Those who born on "Monkey", need more caustion
5) Dont said bad thing or wrong word, prevent the "Brother" thing you are fire him / her
6) Drive slow...guess you know what it meant if night time
7) hygienic please, esepcailly road seat as you may see lot or pray items at the road side
8) dont not or avoid step on pray items...

For those people renovation, if you already start work nothing to be worry lol. But for those plan to stay better look for proper time but normally contractor don't care. Why? Because you will see they also have pray on your area and you just didn't notice. Look around the back kitchen area you may see something.
