My 4 year old daughter is really dependent on our maid, who has been taking care of her since 3 years ago.

To earn a living, both myself and my husband worked hard and have no choice but to hire a maid to take care of our child. As my current maid is leaving soon, I am very worry how my child could cope with it.

Anybody have similar experience before? Your advice are much appreciated.

well, this would not happen if both of u can spend more time with the kids rather than letting the maid to fill in your roll as parents.
but what done is done.

now, maybe you can send the kids to your own parents hse or u might want to think of taking a less working hour job to accompany your kids and let them grow in a healthy environment.

i see kids hit their granparents in public.. and when the parents scold them, they ran to the maid for protection... these are not the scene u wish to see....

I had been sending my daughter to my parent's house every day. In fact, my parent, my husband and I are all trying our best to spend time with my daughter at every opportunity we have. No matter how busy we are, we do set certain routines that must be done by ourselves rather than the maid such as checking her school work, story telling, play games with her etc. But she is still very attached to the maid. You know like, her first choice is always the maid..*sign*, I must admit I kinda get jealous about it.

I do seriously considering working from home, starting from next year onwards. But reality is not something that I could ignore as our financial commitment is high also.

hhmmm...
we lose some to gain some...
or u wish to gain some and lose some...

it is still your choice in the end...
but for me, my kids will be my life.....
i rather to be humble in spending....
and spend more time with them, rather bringing them to oversea for holiday or buy branded items...

it would be great if working from home but i don't see yet any chance it can happen in Malaysia unless you are Internet Marketer or job that allow to bring to home.

Yeah we all realize that the cost of living is skyrocket nowaday and continue. But for your kid, spend less and live healthy and be creative

When it boils down to cost of living, comparing with the salary we earned, sometimes it is kind of pathetic.

It is not a matter if we spend lavishly or not. Living in a city and preparing the kids for better education with proper investment plan for them is already half choking us. Tell me, how many of us still have full trust on our local education system all the way till university??

Personally, we are not parent who supply our kids with expensive gifts and holidays. My daughter learned about the value of money starting at the age of 3 (We pay her a monthly allowance), whenever she ask for anything, we let her make her own decision to buy with her own money.

How many of us can afford to sacrifice our job and be at home with the kids? I guess this is dream for every mother. Reality is something that I don't think we can easily ignore. Especially when the income of our job does not only cover the maid's salary but many of our needs for daily expenses, education, our parent which we are supposed to take care of etc. etc.

i just wonder if you watch RTM program that call "Bersama Zamzarina". I think KL have lot of short course that teach how to bake cake/chocolate or do artwork. Maybe you can start to do it as hobby first, and then master it. When you are full arm with knowledge, it easy to earn money. Like you can teach people other people( like tuition la), or do it and sell it. I am very wish too can start a home business that not require me to face boss. it so boring
