Need help.  I cannot root my phone.

I followed this instructions:
D. Rooting for 2.3.3/2.3.4/2.3.5 (Thanks to russian forum-user with nickname may213):
1) Download attached file called upd_1.zip and copy it to your sdcard
2) Turn off your phone
3) Press POWER+HOME BUTTON
4) Select update from sdcard, select the file upd_1.zip
5) After the update completed - reboot
6) Now you have rooted S5830

But when I install update,
it says "Error in /sdcard/upd_1.zip (Status 7)". Then installation aborted..

What did i go wrong?

I'm a user of galaxy ace for few months, first few months I've no issue with my phone. But recently I've problem with my GPS. The GPS is getting very slow signal. I've installed papago X5 and tried to use it on the first few month. It's picking up signal quite good and smooth. But recently the GPS can't be used at all. I've tried to leave the papago running for hours, but it won't detect at all. Any suggestion?

i'm using CM7 and had create 1gb ext3 from my sd card....question,if i want to install any application,does it automatically goes into ext3 that i've created?or do i have to move it manually?

Right now, Im ready to flash my rom to CM7kang. I got few questions before proceeding on..

1. I already flashed CWM4 via sd card. Right now I wanna backup everything including my stock ROM. I already used the backup function in CWM4. Is it sufficient? What about my apps?

2. I installed Titanium Backup and ROM Manager. Both backup different things? Like Titanium = APPS, ROM manager = ROM.

3. I tried to backup my rom via ROM manager, it requires me to install CWM but i laready have CWM4. Will it corrupt if i install another CWM =\

I just flashed to CM7. Looks nice. But where can I find my titanium backup? Android market is not even there! OMG.
Another thing that annoys me. The return button always send me back to the home screen.  Every time when I check some stuff and just wanna back to the application menu, click Return button, it straight away send me back to the home screen. Any way to set this?

Yea i know right ^^. Although CM7 is so much faster.. and you can set almost everything you want but the missing parts is a killer.

Thanks. But something weird happened. When I connect to WIFI, the market suddenly appeared! Then logged in as usual and auto-updated to 3.1.5. Wasted my time to download SDK thing. 

Any good task killer/manager to recommend? Noticed there's no task manager.

I thought some ROMs need a certain (say XXKPH) before we can flash it? so is it i need to upgrade the firmware first cause hers is like dinosaur firmware.

2. i know usually samsung should flash through odin but i've seen some roms saying copy into sd card and flash zip from recovery (exact same thing i did for my desire.) so i asked just to confirm. Anyway, thanks.

I have no problem being complicated and all, i just want it to success so i can continue flashing roms for her.

may i ask what rom you flash? im not so sure about the compatibility with malaysian cell tower thingy.

again, thanks for the reply. XXKPH is what im aiming for too! Code and CM7 both uses KPH right? only Villian uses KPN and i dont see much updates from villian. However cm7 is still a custom port and not official cm7 team and i heard the cm7 team is working on their official ace build so should i wait for it? cause Kang build is odexed. But not that deodexed and odexed mean anything for my gf though.
how is cm7 kang? Are they both XXKPH? and i thought code has some warez issue is that solved?

where to get DXKPD? cant find it in samfirmware..
