Have been reading... Want to try custom rom. So to do that, these would be my steps right?

1) Create GoldCard
2) Downgrade ROM to 1.3.x
3) Root the phone (Eng S-OFF and S-OFF)
4) Backup
5) Flash the new ROM

Is that right? When do i change my kernel?

Sorry, i meant radio... i can change my radio anytime before or after flashing the custom rom right? (of course after rooting)

after much tinkering and failed downgrade (suspect my goldcard didn't work), i'm on RCMix! yay! thanks for all those who had guide me. next to flash radio... which should i use?

anyone on RCMix3D v4 haveing problems with market? i can't download through the market app. have to get into market.android.com to push apps over.

also TI backup doesn't work for me. it keeps FCing on loading.

wondering what other backup managers i could use.

probably would be trying ARHD tonight.

now even dl from webpage also have problem installing. hmm...

the new market, you could update your apps too. just not as easy as the old market. just press menu (capacitive button) and got to my apps. there, but clicking update(x no of apps to update) will update your apps. alternatively you could click on the individual apps to update individual apps.
am on market version 3.3.11 via RCMix3D.
Anyway as mentioned earlier, just have problems with download and installing my apps. Apps either can't install or can't launch most of the time. gonna format my sd and do a clean install again.

yup... just explaining some workings that you could... yup, still experiencing problems... havent reflash yet.

1) Disable mobile data is the simplest form, else you have to disable whole lots of things to save on data. disable syncing and disable auto update are the two main stuffs to consider.
2) Disable sync (not auto sync but individual app sync configurations)
3) It has auto search features on firstload (if it is your first time using whatsapp). Else if you have account elsewhere, it would port over your whatsapp contacts from previous phone i think; but you would have to link to your current contacts in your phone (automatic link will be slower than linking it manually). However, if you disable mobile data, what is there to whatsapp anymore? Pointless to check whats app over wifi only if you ask me. suggest you take a low data plan (500mb or what so ever) to have some service online. else it's like having a private jet but using commercial economy class firefly flights.

Else drivers installed correctly? reinstall them and try again?

anyway toggle2G is really great! auto shut off 3g to 2g after some time to save batt juice! that means whatsapp and push email can still work while not needlessly using your 3g juice sucking connection! yay!

Try reflashing and not load backups. not even contacts. try download that particular app from market again and use. i know that some restoration of apps causes fc, crashes and bootloop on rcmix3d (at least i did). and try not to restore system configs. that would almost certainly crash your device.
