If the N45SF feels solid and good, has decent battery life and comes with the GT555M Type B with a price maybe just around RM3k, I'm sold.

RM2.8k for the i5 version with a GT555M and would you believe it... it's most likely type A...

I wouldn't mind getting it except for the GPU. Don't mind if it is only 720p and has Optimus but I find the fact it's using the GT555M Type A deeply disappointing. Can only hope it's not the case.

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Aug 6 2011, 04:57 AM) QUOTE(reevephon @ Aug 6 2011, 08:10 AM) What you mean by type A? How bad it is? Which GPU comparable to this GT555M? I thought GT555 suppose around HD6770M standard or even higher a bit? Well if you refer here http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=43680717 in a post from the GPU discussion thread, the GT555M type A is just a souped up GT550M with higher clockspeed and GDDR5 VRAM. |

This is funny, I refer back to the laptopmag review as states it's using the GDDR3 version of the GT555M. Technically you can't put 2GB of VRAM onto a 192-bit bus.

Well, to be on the safe side, having more SP is better than having faster memory.

Why shouldn't it support PhysX? But there's only so much you can do with a GPU that isn't that powerful.

Well the first thing I would like to do, if I get this model is to compare its graphics performance with TJ's M14x.

Yup, Metro2033 willl bring any GPU to its knees at maximum.
Added on August 7, 2011, 10:17 pm QUOTE(htpkevin @ Aug 7 2011, 10:16 PM) lol, i think IF(and thats a big IF) the gt555m on this asus lappy performance is on par or quite close to what M14x has, i think most ppl will choose this over M14x(well at least i will lol, coz the price gap too big, and i don really use programme requires very very good processor, for me maybe i will get some spare money and get some gaming keyboard, then i will have bling bling looks keyboard also xD, though externally. No offence to any alienware users>.< Sorry) Or could consider the MSI GE620DX. Same GPU too as the N45/55SF.This post has been edited by AlexLai: Aug 7 2011, 10:17 PM |
