If it's too good to be true, it's too good to be true. I would really caution against buying oils from hypermarkets after the articles I've read about fakes. The purchaser in charge of motor oils at Tesco probably doesn't even care if it's real or fake, they just care about the bottomline-cost. As long as a supplier is there supplying at a good price, they will buy and stock up. I doubt they have any process of validating the originality of the content/product that they are buying since their turnover is so high. Of course, it could really bee a good deal by Tesco. I just wouldn't bet on it.

Mr Phon Phon... (heh heh)...

I have used these EU packed oils (Shell Helix Semi - 5L bottles) and Castrol Magnatec since many many moons ago, and have no issues with my engines whatsoever.... have used them on local and EU cars...

I know that these hypermarket does require authentication and certification from the suppliers, as well as product liability insurance (and of course listing fees, annual performance fees, etc), and massive quantity bulk buy.... also the suppliers are rated by "complaints" by customers, and they are kicked out if their quality are not assured...

Still, while these oil suppliers can supply fake oil, and can falsify the certs, but I doubt they will also want to lose their listing fee, their shelf fee, nor lose a big client such as these hypermarts...

Again, to each his own, I am only sharing my experience with the semi syn oil, which works well for me thus far...

You didnt read my post on warranty leh...??

Last week I drove into Sect 13 Proton Edar SC to claim warranty on spoiler.... the warranty officer took pics of the spoiler (really spoil-ler), then walk to the front to take pic of my license plate... he quickly made a U-turn and snapped the license plate from the back.... and they submitted my claim...

U can guess why he didnt take pic from the front... no prizes... brows.gif brows.gif

Today, drove straight to Senaxis, Proton authorized SC, changed bushing, signed on warranty claim, paid RM3.50 and drove away... and I also did my 10,000km oil change there (complete with front, VS, HID, ICE)...

So warranty is all up to the person handling your case.... thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

QUOTE(XCInspire @ Aug 19 2011, 11:17 AM)
1) You do not need to hold the right to go to manual mode. Just pull back the left paddle to engage lower gear. If you are cruising, pulling the left paddle once with put you to virtual gear 5.. from there pulling left again will lower gear, right paddle to upshift gear, max is 6... then hold right paddle (2 seconds) to go back to D (auto) mode.

2) You can use this to switch mode but not necessary, pull left paddle immediately puts you one gear lower and into manual mode.

3) If you are in manual mode and suddenly brake, the cvt will lower itself down without you having to downshift. If to a full stop, it will go to gear 1. It will lower itself when slowing down but not upshift, you still have to upshift manually in manual mode.

4) The system is designed to protect itself when overused or when the gear oil is too hot. Proton has added a transmission gear oil cooler in front of the left wheel arch (you cannot see it, you can peek at it thru the fog lamp openings). If you still manage to overuse/heat the oil, the multi display will show "Slow Down" and your rpm will lower itself to a cruising speed. If you see this, stop the car or lower down your speed immediately. It is quite unlikely you will ever see this if you drive it normally unless you super daredevil drive like mad man shifting like crazy for long period of time.

Hope this answers.

Old man... memory failing you ka...???

To get into Sports (aka paddle mode).... just double tap pull on any paddle... walla...!!!

To cancel, pull on any stick for 2 sec... back to CVT mode...

so the ring must change together? what the ring for?
*
The ring is a drain plug gasket...

U can reuse the old gasket, but with repeated use + wear and tear, the gasket may weaken and cause oil to leak thru and your engine to slowly lose oil during acceleration and engine run (due to increase pressure in engine)...

The gasket only costs you RM3.25 (IINM)... so just change it when you drain the oil...

Today during lunch break did my 1K service at Proton SC Pandan Indah @ CKL (next to the Store). Full address:

CKL PANDAN INDAH SDN BHD (AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTRE)
NO. 2 G & M, JALAN PANDAN INDAH 1/23C,
55100 PANDAN INDAH, KUALA LUMPUR ( 03-92747016 )

Opted for Syntium 3000 5W-40. Strangely, after the service, the engine sound very coarse and rough especially when I pressed the accelerator. Couldnt go back to the SC as I got meeting in the afternoon. Will definitely go back tomorrow.

BTW friends, any idea what possibly cause it? Thanks.
*
As mentioned by ckk125.... most prolly your air filter box not locked properly at the bottom... our Inspira (and Lancer GT) air filter box have two clips at the bottom that need to be secured and clipped together to secure the air filter.... not locking them will cause the bottom to open up and unfiltered air are sucked into the engine, so rectify this as soon as possible...

Most SC mechs do not know this and simply only lock the top... and they will even tell u its "fully secured oredi".... doh.gif doh.gif

Just the pads

At the moment, this is the plan:
1. ProRS brakeline - RM463
2. Endless SSS front brake pad - RM520 - RM550
3. Endless SSY rear brake pad - RM380

Kakimotor package RM1400 for all above plus installation and Motul DOT 5.1 500ml brake fluid

Opinion?
The ProRS SafeBrake izzit...?? RM463 for a whole set of 6 hoses (our car is rear disc, need six hoses in total) is cheap not too expensive.... how much if only this alone?? Maybe I can walk into KakiMotor outlet at Mid Valley tomorrow to ask and compare prices....

Given that there are improved performance of the hoses, but how well would the pads work given the stock standard calipers?

I would prefer to look at better brake caliper, brake rotor and pads in a set... too bad money dont grow on trees near my house.... sweat.gif sweat.gif

Response will be more precise and less forgiving (zero flexing compared to stock rubber hoses). Just a matter of getting use to it. Brake fade is caused by boiling of the brake fluid under heavy usage; hopefully the Motul is better but since the pads has higher temp rating, should not heat up so fast. The pads needs to be heated up to be effective, so ur first 500metres of jalan in the morning u will find ur brakes less makan coz its still cold.. This can be solved by changing to better caliper set  drool.gif  A twin pot or 4 pot calipers has better clamping power and will use a bigger pad (wider surface on disc) that will give you even better stopping power  thumbup.gif

Now poadster will even more poisoned to change whole set ...
*
I have been planning to change braided hose long time ago, and its very hard to find EvoX 4 pot caliper set (not to mention damn expensive)...

Guess have to be like Rublik and just change the hose and pads lo... thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

guys,i plan to add bodykit...d material tat guy offer me is PU..is it good ????
*
PU is good material as it can flex and absorb hard hitting rocks, thus it dont crack that easily as compared to fibre or FRP (fibre reinforced with plastic, which is as crap as fibre)....

Our original bumper material is made from PP...

Anyway, is the bodykit priced good?? What is in the set (front, side and back)??

Does your car engine "roar" louder than usual too??

Look at the post above, if the engine sounds much louder and has loss power, this could be due to the improperly closed air filter box...

i just checked my inspira 1.8manual air filter, noticed that only top portion has the 2 clip on bracket not at the bottom, this  is the 1st time i see the air filter wall exposed as part of the cover box...  sweat.gif

enquiring for an open pod filter from speedworks & few others accessories shop for price comparison...  brows.gif
*
There are two hook clips at the bottom, these must be aligned to the air filter as well as the top clips, to form a perfect seal arnd the air filter...

Most SC fails to realise that they must also align and lock the bottom hook clips too, not just the top clips... and not locking the bottom hook clips will result in a much louder engine roar and loss of power...

Open pod modification need more work, as the open pod intake must be positioned to the front and will be placed where the battery is currently placed... thus the battery needs to be reposition too.... brows.gif brows.gif

Unless you want the open pod intake to be where the current air filter box is, at the back and sucking in hot engine air... sweat.gif sweat.gif

Do let us know there prices that you can get....

*
Roll yes.... but ever try to stop quickly?? You will like THAT feeling even more when your tires are at 40...!!! No wonder your ABS kicks in way more than any of us ever do.... ever wonder why is that so? Hint... 40...

Also, at 40, your traction is lesser during standstill take off, thus increasing your FC again (which offsets the gain from "rolling")... again lesser contact with the road when braking (as per above)...
