finally collected my silver inspria 1.8mt earlier today, as it was a public holiday for selangor, traffic was terrible...  shakehead.gif

to begin with, chassis is 9xxx & engine 7xxx

have no clue how to set the radio clock display & pairing my sony ericsson experia mini as no manual given for the radio...  hmm.gif

Congrats...

There should be a manual, otherwise go claim from SA...

To change clock, you press hold the left most button down, the press the buttons with the H and the M printed above the buttons... If the clock cannot be set, means u have to go one more step, press the DISP button to go into menu mode, change the the first option to USER. Then set the clock again.

To pair, on your phone bluetooth. Then press the bluetooth button and HU will show Connecting... On ur phone, go to find new devices, you should see PROTON device. Select it. It should complete the pairing.

That is a very high mileage for a new car. Normally ours less than 15km. Where is this showroom? Usually the carrier lorry delivers the cars to all showrooms. Well... as long as the condition of the car is ok, no issues, nothing much to worry about then.

would proton take this as an excuse for warranty to the engine?

It is internationally proven working fine with many cars, no issue with Inspira either. Many of us using now.

I got another 1question here, normally people from TINTED shop will using chemical such as water/liquid/shampoo before stack the film right? My question is can we just use plain water to stick the roadtax/small housing sticker/office sticker  for example? Anyone got any idea? Thanks !

The latest one. Lockatoo with Singapore map one. Not sure what series number. My GPS at home and now I at office.
*
You can use water mixed with some mild soap/detergent. The soap is to make it slippery so that you can adjust the sticker around before confirming the correct position. Thereafter use a old credit card to scrape the excess water out from centre outwards. Put a cloth on your dashboard so the water does not seep in places you don't want it to end up. Hope this helps.

On gps, look up this blog... http://myjimon.blogspot.com/search/label/GPS%20Launchpad

Greetings to all sifu's here.

Currently on the process of deciding of getting myself an Inspira, but cant really make my decision on 1.8 CVT or 2.0 CVT

Can any proud owner here giv out some comment in terms of performance comparing both the 1.8 CVT and 2.0 CVT? What I'm trying to clarify is how much more powerful of the 2.0 compared to 1.8 in terms of pick-up response. Yea pick-up is important for me  tongue.gif . The difference between those 2 will it be obvious? or juz slighty better?

P/S: Yea i did tried to google for the comparison between the 2 and did use the search button for some homework but cant really find a clear cut answer and reading all from V1 to V8 is gonna make my head go  rclxub.gif

If you all got any link to share please provide and I'll do my homework  biggrin.gif

Thanks in advance....Cheers

Besides pickup, what are your other factors considering both versions? The 2.0 has more goodies inside for its price.

If you compare pick up between the 2 CVT variants, quite obvious the 2.0 has more pickup and torque to pull it, esp uphills. If you compare 1.8MT & 1.8CVT, then 1.8MT will win in pickup. Between 1.8MT & 2.0CVT is quite subjective. If CVT uses its paddle shift, it will be on par with 1.8MT when it is on gear 1 & 2 (both reaching redline), after which 2.0 will be able to beat 1.8MT when 1.8MT engages 3/4th gear onwards.

I own a 2.0 and I sat in a 1.8CVT before, I can feel the 1.8 needs to work harder (and a little louder) to pickup. If the price is not a factor, get the 2.0.

I beg to differ. CVT seems slow at first, they seems to lack the sudden jolt that conventional gearbox represent. In actual fact, CVT will win in acceleration at the end, just that it's seems that it just accelerate smoothly, and slowly.

I tried 2.0 CVT, and to tell you the truth, it doesn;t have the sudden jolt or pickup feel to it. But when i floored the pedal, I looked at the speedometer as well (I know I know it's dangerous), but the increase of speed is damn good.

This is what I think. If you tried Honda City's CVT before, try to down shift at a speed. The CVT isn;t really design for hard use. But Inspira's CVT, when I tried to play hard with it, no jerk, smooth downshift from 5th gear to 2nd gear. Definitely a better CVT. Response, or the rubber effect, is not that obvious with Inspira, as compared to City's.

Hope this helps. Oh, there is one thing thou...the steering seems a little bit tight thou.

Fren, I mentioned using paddle shifts for pickup till redline...

Thanks XCInspire !!

Btw, anybody how to use properly paddle shift?
What i know is when the gear on 'D' then press right paddle to driver 2sec and start moving. what happen if on cruising suddenly got corner then i want to drop gear by paddle shift. How? or got step by step one?
*
I don't quite get what you mean from the first sentence. However from manual shift mode, holding the right paddle for 2 seconds will put it back to auto mode.

For taking fast corners, try to slow down the speed first before engaging lower gears, CVT is not like MT with a tougher clutch system. CVT is still a rubber belt with steel ribs. Same for downhill situations, try not engage lower gear if ur car is cruising too fast. Apply brake first to slow down then only engage 1 gear lower at a time.

Actually when cruising then want to do last minute corner, no need to paddle shift, just brake to slow down and the cvt will detect lowering of speed and engaging lower ratio on its own. This is why you buy an auto for. You many not be able to do so many things doing a sudden corner. Don't forget to look behind when changing lanes for other motorist.

So that's mean:-
1- Let say our current gear is 'D' (auto) and want to change paddle shift, just pull the right paddle for 2second then it will automatically on 'manual paddle shift' (so can start shifting using paddle already)

2- Another word to say 'D'-->Paddle shift = Holding 2second
This method to change auto-->manual & manual --> auto

Am I right!? Sorry stupid question just want to clarify only.
What happen let say the situation like this, currently you driving with paddle shift (gear 4) suddenly traffic light is red and you need to stop but you forgot to shift to lower gear.( suppose --> 4 -3 - 2 - 1 )

My question does the automatic gear detect to protect the engine & gear?otherwise car will 'mati' suddenly?

Arghh sorry2 I really want to know how the system function, did read the manual but cannot faham liao.

T_T

1) You do not need to hold the right to go to manual mode. Just pull back the left paddle to engage lower gear. If you are cruising, pulling the left paddle once with put you to virtual gear 5.. from there pulling left again will lower gear, right paddle to upshift gear, max is 6... then hold right paddle (2 seconds) to go back to D (auto) mode.

2) You can use this to switch mode but not necessary, pull left paddle immediately puts you one gear lower and into manual mode.

3) If you are in manual mode and suddenly brake, the cvt will lower itself down without you having to downshift. If to a full stop, it will go to gear 1. It will lower itself when slowing down but not upshift, you still have to upshift manually in manual mode.

4) The system is designed to protect itself when overused or when the gear oil is too hot. Proton has added a transmission gear oil cooler in front of the left wheel arch (you cannot see it, you can peek at it thru the fog lamp openings). If you still manage to overuse/heat the oil, the multi display will show "Slow Down" and your rpm will lower itself to a cruising speed. If you see this, stop the car or lower down your speed immediately. It is quite unlikely you will ever see this if you drive it normally unless you super daredevil drive like mad man shifting like crazy for long period of time.

Hope this answers.

Hi
my noob question, can we mix water into coolant tank? I knew we can add water to coolant for some engine but I just wondering if mivec engine only use coolant liquid without water as having CVT as we know about CVT heat issue in lancer. Anyone care to explain? Thanks in advance.
*
Yes, you can use distilled water for the radiator to mix with the green coolant. Its better to mix so coolant is more diluted. Coolants can be quite corrosive (anti rust properties, some old school mechanics ask you not to put any coolant at all!).

CVT oil now has a different cooling coil added by proton which lancers do not have.

Haha. No lar, the AVG doesn't means the car drove a bit only...it's the Average distance travelled over time, i can get AVG 10km/h for a day or two sometimes. But the 66l/100km is after car start and idle a few minutes then start moving...haha. My AVG speed over the weekend much better...can reach 3x km/h!!!! (Less traffic jam). I think the AVG speed calculates the distance you've travelled compare to the time taken. So if you stuck in jam forever like me, you can always get very low AVG.

During holidays, the KL area roads will be super clear for you to test... outstation roads all jammed packed unless you travel on the raya days itself. So many places to go, what you wanna see?

Btw, for 2.0 driver, how to use/set proper auto air-con? cuz ive set but no cold lah halammak ..i still play the temperature. The blower I set 'auto' but the temperature I manually adjust. Is it the correct way? Sometime heater blow/sometime clod/sometime don't know. how how?
*
I just set to 25c, fan auto, recirculation on. The temp will be just nice unless you want cooler.

Matrix, yes, ours got heater function, turn to higher 30c and see what happens? Hehe... The water from radiator will be channelled to the blower unit and you will get warm air!

Guys, what leather car u all use for ur Inspira? share with me I got coffee stain. Thanks !

Got wash it off with some water n mild detergent first? Wipe if as if wanna pull stain off, not press down else u might push stain in deeper. There many in the market, choose one that is non oily. Don't apply to your steering wheel as it will get too slippery (can be dangerous). Just use water and microfibre cloth to clean.

I find most of the big svc centres almost the same... worst is you cannot see what they do with your car, slow and tidak apa attitude. I used to go to Sect 13, log in nyek2 sound complain. Till today got solution but never call me to change. Now I go to a small PE franchise SC to svc. Still can claim parts there, can see car being svc and faster. And I got my nyek2 bushes changed there foc.

I need to check the brand of the leather care I use, forgot the name. Some swear by Meguier leather care smile.gif Microfiber cloth no bulu come out one, I think you refering to chamoise orange cloth. The cloth not so cheap but worth it, available easily in any jusco, c4, tesco, etc...
