Really guys, battery life is only really a problem if:
1) You're a heavy user. 2) You don't have some sort of battery extension (power pack, battery case, extended battery, spare battery). 3) You choose NOT to optimise usage. And usually, 1 will result in solving problem 2 and 3. That said, I used green power before and switched back to JD because the extensive options. @DestEx: Hang out in the audiophile section for some low cost suggestions, but SkullCandies are generally only ok if you want the look. |

QUOTE(xyz_cityhunter @ Aug 1 2011, 08:46 PM) But seriously, unless you're piping this out through HDMI, watching FullHD vids on a 800x480 device is just pointless, besides the show off value of being able to do so lah. |

Real powerful device, lol.
Sometimes I think that the SGS2 is actually overpowered. Even underclocked to 800-200 and undervolted, it's never slow, never laggy and generally quick. There's never a problem with RAM either. Sure, the battery generally sucks IN USE (not asleep ya), but really, a couple of spare battery solves THAT problem. I have the battery case and unless I really REALLY use it (like full on constant 3G browsing), my spare battery never even gets used. And, truth be known, while whites on our SAMOLED+ screens can be jaundiced (a tad yellow) from time to time, the blacks just make every other device out there s,eem, well, grey. And this is prolly the main reason why I just can't put down the SGS2. Try using it in the dark with a black theme and everything just melts into the screen edges. AND never before in my 10++ odd years of gadget use has that happened. This alone is worth the admission price IMHO. BUT, back to my main point, yeah the SGS2 has yet to encounter something that can choke its innards, and sometimes it feels like you're driving your kids to school in a Lamborghini - so much untapped power wasted just like that. Hopefully ice cream sandwich makes better use of this awesome power. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Aug 1 2011, 11:06 PM |

My god. We really do need an entirely saperate sub section for the SGS2. It's like the entire iPhone section, but with only one thread.
Madness. QUOTE(Delirium @ Aug 3 2011, 10:39 AM) I use it regularly, and it works fine. Don't blame me if it breaks your SGS2 though. |

QUOTE(reijikageyama @ Aug 3 2011, 09:07 PM) it's been a long time since i set any equalizers for any of my music players (phone/computer/mp3 player) and that's the way it should stay IMO. If you have good quality HW + good source files it's fine to stay flat and eq-less. The SGS2 needs help though IMHO (with that Yamaha DAC and all).Usually it's because of the source rather than the settings itself (my 2 cents) |

I just noticed something very, very disturbing.
It seems that my statusbar has "burned into" the upper part of the screen ALREADY. Loading a blank page on the web browser in full screen, I can already see the very faint outline of the statusbar and it's icons on the top part of the screen. Yes I've heard of AMOLED burn-in, but wow, this soon? I must have used the device crazy long during this past month. Adoi. |

QUOTE(destEX @ Aug 4 2011, 11:26 PM) wow you scare me, i went and check nothing, not even a tint checked with every birghtness hahas, technically the statusbar is black, so very hard for it to burn-in unless ur statusbar is coloured la, but then i doubt so fast will burn in, if not benny and those with the ap sets sure early early complain ad Not the statusbar burning in per se, it's the icons (JD and setcpu which I have constantly up there). But thankfully it only appears if I have a light background on. And battery case -> that samsung hard case with built in external battery. |

For those with an absurdly yellow screen when set to low brightness (or think they have one, or conversely think it's not yellow enough), you should get the pro version of Chainfire3D and use night mode.
It's actually a great way to get a very simple 3 channel gamma control, and you can: 1) Make the screen go darker then usual - use with auto-brihtness for some power savings. 2) Adjust your whites/colour temps - no more AH MY SCREEN IS THE YELLOWZORZ. And you don't have to use anything else but CF3D. Your settings survive boot and can be easily toggled by a shortcut/widget too. So much for something called "night mode", ironic because I never turn it off lol. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Aug 5 2011, 01:30 PM |

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Aug 6 2011, 02:32 AM) That isnt a valid explanation due to the fact that the duration of the lag increases with time. You sir, have got a rogue app terrorizing your CPU cycles/RAM, sounds like. From a fresh reboot, the lag is minimal. I assume that if the voice function requires a lag time, it should be as long as a freshly rebooted's lag. But when i use the phone, after 1 day of usage, the lag increases from say, 0.5s to about 2-3s. So definately it has nothing to do with the voice function. It must be something else. I am used to the whole concept of rebooting to clear lag, as my old N900 even needs a script to religiously reboot it every day at 5am just so it won't lag. But on the SGS2, I can safely say I never really needed to do that, as I've always had to reboot only when I flash/mod stuff (or when I need to change the battery, which happens quite often). Stuff remains generally quick and non-laggy. And I'm even CONSTANTLY UNDERCLOCKED to 800mhz max. |

QUOTE(Sieg @ Aug 6 2011, 04:55 PM) Cheers, personally I've owned both units before, the yellowish does bother me, after exchange it was a blueish unit. But now the off angle annoys the hell out of me too. it's like a screen with only 5 degrees of viewing angleĀ Or you can keep the yellower screen with wide viewing angle and use CF3D's nightmode settings to tune colour to whatever side of the spectrum you want.Sure, if you're yellowish it means that your bluesubpixes are dying, and tuning the display blue will just make it die off faster (lol), but at least you can if you wanted to. It's a quick fix if you have color balance issues, doesn't help brightness issues because it only goes down, not up. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Aug 6 2011, 07:54 PM |
