Hi. I'm a STPM fresh graduate. I had suffocating from choosing university now. For local U, UTeM(Universiti Teknikal Melaka Malaysia) had offered me Electrical Engineering(Control, Instrumentation and Automation) while i also apply for UTAR's Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I prefer to take E&E at UTAR because it have those subjects i wanna study like renewable energy and optoelectronic, while UTeM doesn't have those subject. My friends told me to appreciate the chance of getting local U, but i prefer to study at UTAR. So what's you guys opinions? Thanks.

I plan to take E&E, but i done a few career test before, they said i'm more suitable to be architect, systems analyst, scientist, psychologist, R&D. i wonder am i suitable for engineering? LOL! But i got look through the simple guide for engineering, i think it's ok but i still worry i pick the wrong course. LOL!

Kailoon: ya i agree with you. smile.gif

QUOTE(stupidbo @ Jul 30 2011, 03:34 AM)
i am not you.i do not understand how you think.
ok.since you like engineering, let me ask you few questions.these questions might helps you.---->
1.do you love electrical engineering?do you love electrical and electronic engineering?
2. you like utar e&e engineering.you want it so much.
WHY you choose(you have 8 choices) electrical engineering, majoring in control instrumentation and automation via UPU?WHY don't you choose other programme?
3.  CAN you guarantee that your carrier will totally links with what you are studying now?how many percent of your syllabus will put into use?are you trying to JUST STICKS WITH WHAT YOU LOVE(renewable energy and optoelectronic...etc.......but say NO to other)
4. is it BECAUSE of your father told you he could sponsor you 20k makes you wanna take it and put it into your education?
5. do you REALLY KNOWS about the expectation of a employer towards an employee?
6. the reputation of the university is FAR MORE IMPORTANT than a candidate ability/personality. what do you think?
7. is the reputation of a university WILL impress an employer or a candidate ability/personality WILL impress the employer?
8. which university can gives you the most opportunity to explore yourself?which university is backed by the most funding and information resources?which university can gives you the best facilities?will you fully utilize it? or not?
9. did you check about the accreditation status on BEM website?what is the difference between electrical eng.(utem) and e&e  eng.(utar)?do the quality on par?
10. you lives in a multi-cultural society.are you trying to avoid living in multi-cultural society?
11. do you think u can cope with the so called culture-shock when you enter ipta?(many chinese still can cope well in ipta....why not u?)
12. are you trying to live in safe-zone?
13. do you have a +ve mindset?

hope it helps.
*
well. is helpful. haha.
1. i don't really like either electrical nor electronic... actually i prefer mechanical or physics...
2. UTeM electrical engineering wasn't in my 8 choices... i choose UPM UMS mechanical aerospace n physics... unfortunately, they don't even wanna give me a pure/applied science.
3. i can study major on them during master degree.
4. probably if can i wouldn't use. is there any loan beside PTPTN? lol..
5/6/7. ya. but i'm emphasize more on university quality and study environment. If both UTAR and UTeM students are looking for same employer, and both have good ability/personality, which 1 will be employ?
8. This i don't know haha.
9. both are accredited. i had checked both course modules and subjects 1 by 1. thats why i know there's no renewable energy/optoelectronic/microelectronic in UTeM.
10. i don't deny this. but as i said, university quality come first.
11. Frankly tell you, i also hope to study in multi-cultural U, so i can strengthen my communication skill and so on.
12. what safe-zone u mean?
13. Well, i'm looking for better, doesn't mean negative mindset.

Actually i'm looking for physics at the first. Unfortunately, i choose E&E which have related some subjects that i like. This is because i feel that engineering have better job opportunity then physics, through my 'research'. If i'm rich, i will go for physics, but my family need my support in the future. I don't know i'm right or wrong. please correct me? i'm willing to.. smile.gif

Uni's standard are important. My friend from UTAR gave his exam paper to UTM student with CGPA 3.5+, that UTM boy don't know how to do.
RM 150-300 deduct from salary still ok.
LOL.
