hmm need help on suggestions, first time applying for credit card, all along been using debit card instead , but no cashback/very low cashback (eg petrol), finding better alternative.

1. Annual Income: around RM 54K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must is possible.

3. Card required for: Majority will be Petrol and online purchase. Occasional usage for travelling/hotel etc(occasional travel only , not frequent).

4. Existing credit cards if any: NIL

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Any bank that offers great cashback/rebate

6. Others: Please be specific. : preferably a card with cashback and points for purchase. Might be using it if I travel also(hotel/shopping etc). Major usage will be on petrol and online purchase.

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Less than RM1K

thanks in advance!

You can either get UOB One Card where you earn 5% cash back for petrol everyday up to RM600 or cash back RM30 or Maybankard 2 Cards where you use the Amex for petrol and the visa or MasterCard for online transaction since. Go to UOB and MBB 2 threads to read more.

thanks for the recommendation, did check out your blog, for UOB platinum need to use 3k per annum(12swipes) in order to get the free annual fees. Probably its not a big deal as can meet it if I switch my insurance over to credit card billing.

Actually did some comparing before based on your website, I'm quite undecided between OCBC titanium and MBB 2 card , UOB kinda fall short on certain category based on your table. Was thinking of switching over insurance and internet bill to credit card instead as well.

another thing is mastercard and amex is it widely used nationwide/worldwide/online? all along been using visa debit, and supp. visa card.

Bro, go calculate the amount you can get with OCBC, UOB and MBB 2 AMES like what I did in my table and see which car benefit you most. For insurance, OCBC will give you 1% cash back, MBB 2 Visa or MasterCard 0.5% in terms of vouchers (most insurance company do not accept AMEX except Takaful) and UOB 0.3%. Just have to remeber that OCBC cash rebate is capped at RM50. But for petrol, OCBC better as we get 5% cash back everyday and accepted at Petronas (which is good if we go outstation along the highways).

Actually, I would say OCBC better than UOB if your expenses is like less than RM1K per month. How come I did not recommend to you earlier  doh.gif  Swipe 12 times annual fee waive and spend RM10K GST absorb.

Seriously, Visa nad MasterCard no diff in Malaysia as far as merchants acceptance is concerned.

okies , thanks alot. I think I will go for the OCBC titanium card instead as my first credit card, using the calculator in OCBC website, most probably I won't hit the rm50 cap a month anyway, not a big spender here (this includes my food, leisure, petrol, tmnut bills) laugh.gif

yeah , just want to confirm the usage of mastercard blush.gif
