errr hamsters aren't suppose to be living together in a cage. else smth like this will happen

omara... i can sense y the male so dominant. coz ur cage too small.

it makes the hamster get used to space already and suddenlly u add in the other one inside .. most probably the dominant hamster angry lo.

change to a bigger cage .. and try to c the different.

yup.. gonna move them to 4' x 2' aquarium this weekend... will separate to 2 partitions... recycling old aquarium, no budget for a new 1..

erm..if you gonna put in aquarium..pls make sure it is in a cool place..as aquarium is not as airy as cages..hamsters does not do well with high temperatures..

noted, i've planned about it too... using comp casing fans as blower & exhaust...

adult syrian hamster are solitary la dey, mana boleh keep together a lot in a small space liddat?

why not split the dominant male out instead..or take one female into the new cage???

Omara, I used to breed 20+ hamsters and u never let a newbie in the cage just like tat. BAD decision!!

If you are bringing in a cage that's already occupied by other hamsters, first u need to let all the hamsters out, clean the cage thoroughly, then let the male newbie in the cage first for like 10 mins at least. The reason is to let the smell of the new hamster linger in the cage so the other hamster will feel that it is less of their territory.

When u let a new hamster into a cage that's been a habitat of other hamsters for awhile u will make him feel out of place cos he knows he's stepping into other hamsters territory. So rmb always clean a cage get rid of the smell then put the new hamster in, let him wander around first.
