Omara, I used to breed 20+ hamsters and u never let a newbie in the cage just like tat. BAD decision!!
If you are bringing in a cage that's already occupied by other hamsters, first u need to let all the hamsters out, clean the cage thoroughly, then let the male newbie in the cage first for like 10 mins at least. The reason is to let the smell of the new hamster linger in the cage so the other hamster will feel that it is less of their territory.
When u let a new hamster into a cage that's been a habitat of other hamsters for awhile u will make him feel out of place cos he knows he's stepping into other hamsters territory. So rmb always clean a cage get rid of the smell then put the new hamster in, let him wander around first.
