Did anyone come across to DIY a car audio amplifier yourself? I am curious on building an amplifier for myself and at the same time to gain knowledge on the amplifier. Does anyone of you have the schematic diagram? Anyone amplifier will do - monoblock, 4 channel, 2 channel.

I think there two shop U can visit Audio Creation & ACP at PJ... At this moment they just mod the amplifer to suite individual taste... maybe U can learn from them... if u sincere to learning & make frends it not harm at all, so good luck...

Hahaha, I did once just for the fun of it, during college, that was 20 yrs ago! You can get diagram and accessories at Pasar Rd. Mine was a 2 channel with LCD SOund display. I attached a equalizer (bought a ready made) to the amp.

Infact I still have it, no more changgih now

I am getting them in Sarawak. I think Jalan Pasar shops do sell too. I have been there once only. A lot of electronic shops over there.

Then you are wrong already.... If you really in to DIY amp, must source the parts from Element14(Farnell) or RS Malaysia, atleast the quality are better than those shops....
It maybe more expensive but you have less headache....

I sourced few types capacitors from Element14 before in bulk because it is cheaper for my few previous projects and that's why I am going to use the leftovers. I never hard of RS Malaysia yet but sometimes I do sourcing from Cytron, Johor. The reason I am getting them in Sarawak because they sell good quality components there at cheaper price.

I don't know how about that shop but, for parts like diodes or capacitors, I still prefer the known brand from element14....
I do bought before from those electronic shops, but then when I test them, I found out that the tolerence % gap are too big between 2 caps....
Buying from element14 I still have gaps, but not as much as 20%....

Thanks for the advice. I didn't know about the tolerance. How did you test it? The capacitors I bought normally can stand the heat up to 110 degree Celsius that's what I prefer. I don't want them to burn out. Element14 normally sells in bulk so you can get them at cheaper price. If you want to buy single or 2 components, I suggest Cytron. Same goes to diodes and resistors.

A cap's spec includes the uf value, tolerence %.

Above are some example of the tolerence %....
Usually +-5% are more expensive while +-20% are cheaper....
It depends on what you want... If using it for circuit board, lower tolerence % will be better....

hey TS, a fellow forumer from audiophile section xtorm has excellent tripath kits for sale.
this guy has excellent knowledge for diy car audio as he diyed his own car.

i find his products very nice and cheap and he is a nice guy too!

Sorrymate, I dont have it anymore, as I said it was very long time ago, and I bet some of the components would have been obsolete

Most of electrical component shops would also be selling kits, or get electronic magazines, or google is your friend!
