yes, this should be the practice. most of the comp shops' so called "technician" have no idea what they're doing. they just troubleshoot by replacing parts. then charge you for everything. there are the few that are knowledgeable, but most aren't. so NEVER trust them completely. i'm betting your issue was the power supply all along. PSU, even cheap ones, have circuit breakers, so the mainboard are usually not harmed by minor surge.

oh yeah, i hate aone plus too. . their price after member's discount is still higher than ALL IT. plus, crappy service.
