I recently purchased a full gaming PC @ Aone Plus in SS14 Digital Mall Petaling Jaya costing me over RM3600 with 3 monitors. Basically I wanted a system that supported Eyefinity with 3 monitors therefore my rig ended up with an AMD core, 8gb ram, Sapphire HD6870 Graphic Card and 3x Phillips 19" monitors. The sales supervisor named Leong (supposedly the head supervisor/technician) was explaining how there is no problem with the card running 3 monitors and all I needed was 1x HDMI and 2x DVI. Although their price was more expensive than the All IT Hypermarket upstairs, I wanted to support the smaller guys thinking they will have better service.

First Case
So I listened, made my purchase and happily went on home. When I reached home I realized they forgot my power cord, gave me the wrong DVI cables for my monitors and my 25 meters Ethernet cable doesn't work. I called him (No apologies btw) and I asked if he could bring the replacements to me since I stay quite far away (fat chance!).

So the next day, I took half a day off to get the wrong parts replaced. I went there to change the cables, get my power cable and asked if I could change my 25 meter Ethernet cable to a 20 meter since it didn't work anyways (never asked for any compensation even though I"m getting a shorter cable). The Leong guy went persistently to test the cable (cause I'm a customer and of course I'm lying) on the laptops but didn't work but eventually plugged it to one of their desktops and it worked (obviously the connection pin is slightly faulty but not completely dead). I told him that I tried numerous times and didn't work on my PC while my old Ethernet cable worked. So he told me that he can change a new cable (shorter one too) but I need to compensate him a little because the packaging is open. I'm like WTF!

1). You forgot my power cable.
2). You gave me the wrong DVI cable.
3). I had to return to rectify the mistake that "HE" made.
4). He's asking me to compensate him instead!

So I made those remarks in a polite voice (being a typical non-confrontation Malaysian) telling him all the trouble he put me through wasting half my day's salary, my gas, toll and parking fee to rectify his mistake. So he thought of a compromise by carefully cutting the package off my new Ethernet cable and putting in my old faulty cable and resealing it so that he can resell to another customer. Then he made a small apology; the first and the last.

Second Case

Although I'm still a little shocked at the business ethics of that shop, I did what most Malaysians do, shrugged and went home. So after getting home and eager to hook on my 3 monitors but guess what... only 2 monitors worked at any one time. So went online and did my research. Not related but FYI for all those planning to use Eyefinity to hook up 3 monitors;

For HD5000 to HD6000 series,
1). You can only use 2 out of 3 of the following slots (1x HDMI, 2x DVI)
2). The 3rd monitor has to be either Display Port or Mini Display Port but if you are converting to DVI then the adapter has to be an active adapter *Important*
3). Alternatively, use the 2x Mini Display Port with a splitter.

So I went back to the shop fuming cause he doesn't know his stuff but claimed that he do just to make the sale. I explained and taught him about the limitation of the Eyefinity cards and the how the 3rd monitor needs to be either Display Port of Mini Display Port. The first thing the Leong guy did was blame me cause its my fault for not buying the older card he recommended. I didn't want that other card because it was an older 5000 series card, has no Eyefinity support and was of a lower specs. As a consumer I get to choose what I want to buy and not what he tells me to buy. Furthermore, he claimed that the card I wanted will work before I bought it. So he went around the shop and took out a Mini Port to DVI converter which costs RM80 bucks. I was pretty upset at that point and told him that he made me come back twice which was completely his fault and now I got to buy another hardware for RM80! So he discounted the thing to RM60. *Slap head* Sigh...

I spend almost RM3600 (which is a lot of money to me) and despite him making all the mistakes, I still have to pay for it. The Leong guy said, all so what if its RM3600, we only made a RM100 off you (started showing attitude with me). Are you kidding me? If you made only RM100 off RM3600 of sales, that means you need to sell RM720,000 of sales just to cover your cost (assuming RM20,000 a month with salaries). Furthermore, he repeatedly blamed me for not buying the older card that he recommended earlier.

I walked out, went upstairs to the All IT Hypermarket and found the Mini Port converter for only RM48. Should have just bought everything from them in the first place.

So the moral of the story;

1). Don't buy from Aone Plus.
2). Good customer service is a myth.
3). Trust no one.
4). Bring your laptop and verify the information before buying.

If Aone Plus cannot compete with price and have lousy service then there is no way they will survive for long. I just hope all the consumers will smarten up and demand for good support and better service.

P.s. Another example of bad experience at the same shop. (http://www.mmail.com.my/content/70090-sour-affair-it-shop)

I regretted buying from them. Until today, I still can't get my 3rd monitor to work properly.

If I went upstairs to All IT, they would have setup my card with the Display Port instead of Mini Display Port for my third monitor cause its easier to find an active adapter for Display Port. Long story short, my 3rd monitor with Eyefinity would be working today. Now I have to special order a part from the US just to get it to work. Even Low Yatt doesn't have what I need.

Btw, I went back to All IT and told them the MiniDP to DVI cable is passive and doesn't work on my computer, they gave me a full CASH refund. *Thumbs up for ALL IT customer service*

Ok bro i ask u some thing ....

1) you ask technical guy to test 3 monitor with pc together work or not never some more u keep complaining

2) Ethernet cable problem...  have to test 1st because some time work sometime not work ....somemore AONEPLUS reseller only not a manufacturer if  testING spoil after that  can change

3) 3 monitor support by graphic card u know which port can use correct.... when u purchase that time can ask our technical guy how to work ...or can i use both DVI but u never did...
4) Price u compare ready alot of place... why u still buy aoneplus it means compare with others cheaper aoneplus correct... but what logic u write here i give them business .... even i also i see the price Rm 10.00 ok la but more then 10.00 i cannot ... never mind but according to u complain alot of difference the price more then RM 50.00 nobody buy... everybody say i can get more then cheaper i can go buy other place....

HOW COME YOU CAN SAY SERVICE VERY BAD... DEPEND WHAT WE WANT ....

My Reply as below:

1) you ask technical guy to test 3 monitor with pc together work or not never some more u keep complaining
He didn't install the OS but left it to me to install myself. They said i would have to wait an extra hour so I opt to install it myself. In any case, why would anyone want to test 3 monitors there and then when you trust the guy selling you the PC to know what he's talking about.

2) Ethernet cable problem... have to test 1st because some time work sometime not work ....somemore AONEPLUS reseller only not a manufacturer if testING spoil after that can change
If you understood what I wrote earlier, I brought the cable back to be replaced but instead of changing a new one he wanted me to compensate him instead for a shorter cable. Even if he tested the cable, it might have eventually worked on one of his 20 computers in the store but the pin head was faulty and therefore never worked on my PC.

3) 3 monitor support by graphic card u know which port can use correct.... when u purchase that time can ask our technical guy how to work ...or can i use both DVI but u never did...
LOL! You should really read up on what I wrote. The technician named "LEONG" said I could use 1x HDMI and 2x DVI to run 3 monitors which is why I would even consider buying this particular rig however he was wrong and I ended up teaching him about how the ATI Eyefinity works.

Sometimes there are consumers who are willing to spend more for better service. The Leong guy was portraying someone who was knowledgeable and trustworthy (that was my mistake) so I didn't mind spending extra rm100 to rm200 more in a place that gives personalized service. Not everyone focuses solely on price alone but also on many factors like after sales service, tech support down to even the humble smile.

Btw, ajeeth24, your reply doesn't seem to be based on my post but from your thoughts. Furthermore, your English sounds very much like the Leong guy that I bought from and your username is newly registered with only 1 post. Pawned?

I wasn't thinking on escalating this further but its quite frustrating that he would dare to pose as a third party to discredit me. Maybe I should contact some of my friends in the local newspapers like the Star, Malay Mail and etc or forward to the bosses of Aone that one of their employee is harassing me because I spoke up. What do the rest of you think? Too much?

the one u order from US design same as the AllIT one?  blink.gif

Nope. The one I'm ordering from the US is the active Miniport adapter but the ones that are carried in Digital Mall and the whole of Low Yatt is the passive version. I even checked with the distributor of Sapphire in Malaysia and they said they only brought in 10 units of the active adapter but took them 9 months to sell it. Guess not many ppl running the ATI Eyefinity.

Thankfully I have a friend thats coming down from Canada so I'll just order it from Newegg.ca, ship it to him and get it once he comes down.

So much trouble.. sigh

I've went to AOnePlus too(Subang Avenue) and after reading this article, I've considered to avoid buying from them too.

I've purchased a basic PC which includes a 500W PSU, but when I got home, I found out the PSU they gave was 450W. I knew it was partially my fault for not checking thoroughly, but the representative(Terry) have installed it and should know which parts he had to assemble.

It's not your fault at all. Buying computers should not feel like getting ripped off all the time. Its sad that retailers like Aone plus is spoiling the market for all the other retailers. I hope you went back to the shop and gave him a piece of your mind. vmad.gif

Btw, I've just checked the Aone website and I noticed that their message board (http://www.aoneplus.com/v4/) has been taken down from too many bad comments on it. I remember, b4 posting a link to my experience, of other ppl commenting that their prices are too high, bad service and etc. They can try to hide the truth but I believe that the consumers' choice will decide.

UserU,

I'm Terry from AonePlus (Subang Avenue), which is the guy you mention in your post.

First, i'm here to apologize to you for my mistake, which is given you the wrong PSU.

After I received your complain, I have promise you that I will replace a 500WATT PSU to you.

2nd, As I know before 31 July 2011 WE ALREADY REPLACE THE CORRECT PSU TO YOU, but in your post you does not mention about that.

CAN YOU LET OTHER PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS?

p/s : sorry for my broken english
*
Terry,

First off thumbs up for having the guts to apologize for your mistake and rectifying it unlike my sales representative, ah LEONG from SS14 Digital Mall that posed as an anonymous user and tried to criticize me instead (refer to post by ajeeth24 on 23 July).

However, you can NOT ask UserU to withdraw his comment just because you fixed YOUR mistake. If he didn't check the PSU, he would have been scammed even IF that was not your intention! Asking him, "CAN YOU LET OTHER PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS?" is a form of bribery and the lowest form in that matter. Literally, you are asking UserU to say good things about AonePlus only by replacing the wrong PSU (the mistake which you made in the first place, whether intentional or not, we will never know).

If you want to rectify your mistake, then you should have also have openly compensated him (even if its small) for his trouble to show your goodwill and intention that you did not want to cheat him. Show everyone that you are taking proper responsibilities for your actions and everyone will respect you.

For general information to other ppl mistreated by retailers, you should file your claims through Tribunal Tuntutan Pengguna Malaysia.

"The Tribunal for Consumer Claims is an independent body established under Section 85, Part XII of the Consumer Protection Act 1999. The Tribunal operates under the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism. The primary objective of establishing the Tribunal is to provide an alternative forum for consumers to file claims in a simple, inexpensive and speedy manner."
