Weeeeeee Senior Member 2,066 posts Joined: Oct 2007	I am from Ipoh, Travelled to KL just to purchase my Y470.. haha.. My short Review » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Well The laptop is black cover, but the palm rest keyboard area is slightly purplish. The touch buttons are responsive and useful indeed. Keyboard is nice to type on. But the Right Shift key, Enter, and Backspace is kinda short, I sometimes get mistake but it takes time to get used to it especially the Shift key. Always terclick Up key. i7-2630QM, performance is seriously there. I can feel the difference even with i7-2620m on the hp. Gaming wise. Tried on Dirt 3. Comparing HP's i7-2620m with HD6750 to this i7-2630QM with GT550m. I am not sure if the CPU helped or what. On HP, I could only manage a low settings with around 40fps on average. While on Lenovo, I could do 40fps average on Medium settings. It might be the problem with AMD Architecture with Nvidia. Heat wise. HP certainly win over Lenovo. On idle HP lurk around 43-46 in a normal day. Lenovo is doing 46-49. While gaming, HP doesnt really get hot. And heat is dissipated at the back of the laptop. Lenovo's vent is on the left right. Heat is felt on the palm rest even on normal usage. Slight heat but its bearable when typing. The Front button that switches Optimus On or Off isnt very much useful I guess. Or I still have to learn to do the settings? It basically switches 2 mode. Optimus On which mean it will automatically switch to GT550m when needed and HD3000 on normal use. Optimus Off would mean HD3000 all the way for power saving. Though I would like another option that allowed GT550m all the time. Battery life is kinda awesome if you ask me. 5 hours plus surfing wouldnt be a problem I think. I tried to drain the battery from 100% to 50%, it took me more than 2 hour plus.. near to 3 hours.. I must say lenovo's bundled software are very useful especially the Energy Star which has an option not to charge the battery when its at 40%-50% to maintain its battery health. Technically im on 45% now plugged and its on AC instead of charging. Overall, I have no regrets of this Lenovo over HP. Its a good buy and it would probably last me a while before I plan to sell off. haha. Oh ya, JBL does make a difference compared to Altec Lansing on HP. laugh.gif Some pictures » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « note that its a touch of purple. Regarding warranty. You can still extend it within the year. Meaning after using the lappy for 9 months, you can still opt to upgrade warranty as long as your machine is still in warranty period. Probably Authorized Service Centres instead of their own Lenovo Service Centres. Registering my unit online was kinda pain because they have like alot lenovo websites.. lol.. Weeeeeee Senior Member 2,066 posts Joined: Oct 2007	Bottomline Ivan, You've got 3K budget. Just spend it to its Maximum. Buy as you need, wait while you can. Things will just get better and keep improving and you cant get a perfect laptop that last for ages and no others can match with. I suggest you get Lenovo and try it out. CSA Service Centre Ipoh 1-800-88-7838 05-242 2707 Added on July 27, 2011, 12:37 pmits RM288 for another 2 years If Im not wrong. Buy from Lenovo themselves or service centres. Weeeeeee Senior Member 2,066 posts Joined: Oct 2007	you dont have to upgrade straight away during purchase. you can still opt for upgrade within the 1 year warranty period. So where is the Ipoh service centre? assume you've located? Y470 does have optimus and they've got a dedicated switch for it as well which is very useful. you can opt to turn on Optimus or turn off completely and use HD3000. what HDD are you planning to upgrade? and good thing about lenovo is one cover at the back and everything essential is exposed.. rather than Asus that you need to take out whole chasis for cleaning etc..

I hate to say but I had to go to HP service centre when I got my DV4 because one of its keyboard key is loose.. And hate to say I've been to the Service Centre quite a few times.. Weeeeeee Senior Member 2,066 posts Joined: Oct 2007	ask the shop for it. Make sure its Lenovo warranty instead of the Shop's own warranty. Its very common in Ipoh shops.. If the shop is authorized Lenovo seller they should have the warranty extension pack with them. just go try out all the lappies.. spend some time with them and feel which one you really like.

I havent seen N43SL before but IIRC its keyboard layout is the old type right? with GT540m? i5-2410m? If thats so, obviously its y470 with i7-2630QM with GT550m. I've got bad experiences with HP. Im avoiding it. But if insist on HP. Best to purchase the warranty extension. You can find real cheap ones online.

Added on July 27, 2011, 1:42 pmand for HP.. The unit I got is a B2 chipset.. thou It doesnt affect the usability because it only utilise 2 SATA ports.. so..
