My baby is reaching one year old soon and he has been taking solid food since 6 mths old.
Usually he will drink 3 bottles of milk + 2 solid feeds per day . However, recently he refuses to drink his milk.
He will cry once he saw the milk bottle. We tried pouring the milk to a bowl and fed him using a spoon, but he refused to drink as well.
I guess it's not because of the milk bottle. rclxub.gif

However, he loves to eat solid food. Apples, bread, biscuits, and anything that he can chew on.
Although he is eating, I'm afraid he is not getting enough nutrition from his daily intakes. sad.gif
Please advice how I can make him start taking his milk again.. icon_question.gif

Milk is complementary after he reaches toddlerhood (after 1yo).

It could be a phase..or maybe you can try to put it in a sippy cup..he may drink it.

If he's putting on weight and active...i think it's not to worry. Of coz..consult your doctor for advise.

Just try sipping mug or if it doesn't work just make sure that he takes milk-based morning cereal.

Hi phythia79,

He is very active, but I'm just afraid that he is not getting enough nutrition from his daily intakes. His weight has been constant for 1-2 mths now.

Hi Ekaterina,
Any recommendation on milk-based cereal products? (first time daddy smile.gif)

Good evening,
you can try NESTLE cereals stage 2&3 with different flavors (usually it is written on the box whether you need to add milk or water). But also very good to cook oats cereal with milk by yourself and add some fruits.

Or you can try the same formula milk but another flavor (chocolate or honey).

Children yogurt and cheese is good sub. Try to give him in his favourite cup n spoon. Milk is still best way to get all the gooding.

Once he reaches 1yo..you can try getting solids that can substitute the milk..like chamelion said..children yoghurt and cheese.

In fact...in terms of nutrients..it's best to get it from food. Milk..like i said it's complementary..if you are worried about his calcium intake - yoghurt, cheese and barley (i think) is good. DHA...go for fish.

I think you should be thankful that your son likes solids...and not a picky eater..which is very important as at this time you should encourage him to eat most of the food that we eat.

in terms of weight...if i'm not wrong..the increase would be very little now (compared to when they were babies). If he's active...and eat everything..(except drinking milk)..should be fine.

My son..at 1 phase at about 1yr 3 months..didn't want any other milk (besides breast milk, but i couldn't produce as much as before). So my mom gave him cheese and yoghurt..which he happily gobbled down. At about 1yr 6months..he was ok with milk again..and now takes powdered milk, fresh milk).

She takes 3 meals + 4 milk per day now. Starts to show favour on certain food. She wants to c colour food in her porridge n only scoop those colour foods n leave the poridge behind!

How to encourage her to take plain water!??

chocolate milk is not advisable as it's full with sugar. I usually would give plain fresh milk (dutch lady/australian farmhouse) to my son when he reached 1yo.

Actually amount of sugar is the same in plain, chocolate or honey milk. And the one with honey is not recommended because it can lead to an allergy.
We switched to usual fresh goat milk after one year.

Do not deny babies or toddlers sugars... At their age and metabolism, they do not suffer what the adult is suffering like diebetes etc etc. They need a lot of sugar intake to grow...
