If both sides are connected to a high-speed internet connection, the signal should be just fine smile.gif
Try it out.

@SoulPower -
Please try removing Viber, wait 24 hours, reinstall and try again (make sure you try both the SMS and the automated call options). If this doesn't help, contact our support team at http://support.viber.com and give them the details of the problem.

Hi all,

About GPS inaccuracy - indeed, as mentioned above, Viber uses the phone's native GPS abilities in order to send/receive locations. There may be a slight margin of error, depending which tower captures your location. viber has no control of this. The information received by the tower is then displayed back to your device within Google maps. The margin of error may be 1 to 100 meters +/-. Within large populated areas, with stable state-of-the-art GSM capabilities, the location awareness will have a greater accuracy.

@mydragoon -
Please make sure both sides have the latest version of Viber installed.

@Hico -
About the first problem - please try to uninstall Viber then reinstall (from Market). Does the problem persist?
About the soft-volume problem - it sounds more like a problem with your friend's device, not yours. What device is he using? Is he using a Custom ROM?
Also, did HE make sure his volume settings are all the way up?

Hmm....
This might be a problem specifically with your phone.

What device exactly are you using? which version of Android, and are you using a Custom ROM?

About the soft volume Viber calls on Galaxy - please test our upcoming version 2.1.3 (coming to Market soon) and let me know if the problem was resolved on it or not. We implemented some fixes for Galaxy and hopefully that will solve the volume problem you are describing. Thanks smile.gif

@azrash -
Viber uses the phone's real-time abilities to determine your location. Viber does not use GPS, it uses the triangular 3G services when you are connected to 3G, and WiFi location abilities when connected to WiFi.

We have responded to your S2 headset problem in the other forum where you responded smile.gif

About the other issues:
1. We actually haven't encountered this report from other users, at least not frequently. Try isolating the problem but testing it right after a reboot of the phone, with no other apps running. Does it still occur?
2.The photo delivery issues are known to us, but the specific scenario you described could be helpful to our support team in order to replicate the problem and hopefully fix it. Please report it here: http://bit.ly/ukGVJ0
3.
A. this feature is under development smile.gif
B. Group chat is currently under development. Video calling is certainly on our list, but unfortunately we still don't know when exactly it will be ready.
C. We are considering to add an option to send just any file, but this also requires securing those files (so people won't use Viber to send malicious things), and so it could take more time than usually expected. Once we have news on that, I'll keep you posted.
D. Thanks for the suggestion. We'll take it into account smile.gif

Thanks for all your reports and suggestions. We're really happy to see users like you, who are involved and contributing. This is how you can make a difference and help us shape Viber according to user demand smile.gif

Thanks for the suggestion. Currently we prefer keeping our support to the users personal and "frontal", meaning we reach out to forums and blogs, and also wait for users to come to our Facebook page and very public HelpDesk. It is common that using this method makes users look for existing solutions first, and only then turn to contact us. So it's a win-win situation wink.gif

@more69 -
Still working on it, and we hope that the next version will be compatible (but we can't guarantee it at this stage). Stay tuned for news and updates on our Facebook page or HelpDesk (or you could check back with me here, of course).

Hi @nicregi -
Please try to remove Viber completely from your phone, then reboot it. Wait a few hours then install it again from Market/AppStore. Now when you are asked to type in your number, choose Malaysia and enter your phone number in its Malaysian format (don't type in the "+60", because that's already accounted for in the country code you chose above).

Is it working now?

Hi @stevenlee -

At this stage, 1 Viber number can be assigned to only 1 device simultaneously. This means that registering Viber on 2 different devices requires 2 different phones to receive our SMS with code or the automated call. This means that your phone and your Tablet will have different Viber identities (numbers, essentially), so collision between them is not possible

Unfortunately, you'll have to find another phone number (for example - your home number) in order to register Viber on your Tablet.

In the future we plan to allow the option of having the same Viber number on multiple devices, but it's still quite far away. Once we have concrete news on that, I'll let you know smile.gif

Thank you for the detailed information, it's very helpful in understanding the problem.

About the deactivation -
Please check your IMEI number (universal device identification number) inside the phone's "About" page. Once you found it, please compare it with the real IMEI number that's written on the back of your phone.

Some custom ROMs override the original IMEI you had when you received your phone, and this is the cause to the deactivation problem. We plan to provide a fix for this issue soon (Viber 2.1.3) by collecting all the problematic IMEI's from our users, and manually whitelisting them. If you'd like to make sure yours is also included in the list, you can let me know what IMEI is written in the "About" page, so we make sure it's going to be included in our fix.

About the random changing of the registration number -
In order to check this, we'll need the actual numbers (there might be a bug causing the number to alter). If you want, you can send me your real number in private message, and then also a few different examples of what the number changed to.

All,
We're working hard to complete our new Android version ASAP. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience, and will keep you posted once we have news.

@Aimar Walabi -
It's not one of our officially supported devices, but as far as we know Viber works just fine on Galaxy Note. Try it out and let me know if you experience any problems smile.gif

Our development team is working around the clock to complete it ASAP. We apologize for the delay, but it's important to understand that it's delayed because we want to ensure that the app is released free of bugs. We should have an official announcement regarding Viber for ICS soon smile.gif

We don't know yet. There are some technological barriers (some are due to our limited resources, some are due to Windows Phone's VoIP restrictions) that we're still trying to overcome.

Stay tuned for news and updates on our Facebook page, or here in Lowyat (I'll publish news if we have them).

Thanks for the report.

Viber does support most Bluetooth/headset devices in general. However, some are not supported, due to the restrictions within the phone itself (sometimes certain iPhone/Android features or external devices do not function smoothly with 3rd-party applications). We have fixed Viber in our lastest versions so MOST of the BT/headset devices can work, but unfortunately some others are just not fully compatible.

In order for us to take a look at this issue and hopefully fix it in the future, I kindly ask to report it to our support team here: http://bit.ly/ukGVJ0

Viber does not support ICS yet, but we're currently at the final stages of development, and if all goes as planned, the new compatible version will be released within the next 2 weeks smile.gif

Thanks for sharing.

Well,
You have to remember that there are millions of Viber users out there, all of whom are requesting features that to them seem critical. We're doing our best to live up to everyone's expectations, and you can rest assured that more new, cool features are coming soon.

We can't guarantee, however, when exactly, and that we'll beat ALL other applications out there in all of the aspects concerned. Simply because we have limited resources.. sad.gif

Customized ringtones is on our development list, but at this stage we prefer focusing our attention and resources on more critical matters, like adapting Viber to new platforms (Blackberry, Symbian...), new Android version that's coming very soon (ICS), etc.

Customizing ringtones will be an option in the future.
