Hi, I'm planning to enroll myself on either bachelor of commerce(accounting) or bachelor of business & commerce in monash sunway.
I'm gonna finish my diploma in hospitality this April in Taylor's.
Are there any current/past students doing these 2 courses? And I'd like to know if anyone can answer a few of my questions here.

1. Pros & cons between these 2, anything additional that I should know are welcome too cheers.gif
2. Is it possible to enter 2nd year straight if I have a diploma in hospitality management from taylors.

Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

not sure bout the exemptions, dont think you can get exemptions for 8 subjects(depends on the subjects you took, you'd have to check with them since its a case by case basis thing). Friend of mine who did diploma only got exemptions for two subject, lol.

Pros and cons, imo, as long as its a Monash degree, and you have decent results, shouldnt be a problem getting a job, or so i hear.

If you want flexibility, go with biz and comm(lots of majors to choose from), if you want to focus on accounting and want to study it in depth, with a lot theories and case studies in a smaller class(hence more attention i suppose? not always a good thing though tongue.gif ) go for b.comm(accounting). Also, it would be easier to transfer to caulfield/clayton with b.comm(accounting) than with bbuss comm.

ps: lol, monash took a full page ad on Lowyat, anybody else seeing it? the girl looks familiar... hmm.gif

Oh erm what time orientation starts anyway? Me and my friends haven't receive anything regarding orientation sad.gif

lol orientation, be prepared to get bored off your ass for a couple of hours on the second day(course info session....zzzz)

come monday by 8.30am at least as zstan said(registration starts at 8-9 am), registration booths would guide you on where to go.

your course info session/campus tour/authcate(important as ballz, don't miss)/id card would depend on your faculty, they should give you a welcome pack when you register that briefs you on those stuff iinm.

ouh and go for monopoly on friday, seems quite interesting. Gonna be like a giant monopoly board game(diff faculties against each other) and you gotta do some tasks or some shit(some physical some mental). Should be fun

ps: prove them wrong how? be poor and nice lulz

For Monash, if one has taken SPM English 1119 and subsequently completed A levels(subjects taken do not include English), do we meet the English requirement?
*
http://www.monash.edu.my/advancement/stude...uage/index.html

according to the website ielts is required, though you don't need it if you did MUFY and scored a min of 65% in english.

Just curious we are doing unit enrollment for tomorrow for Bcom and business right? Do we need our laptops? Be at audi 2 by 10 right?
*
by 9 according to my chief buddy, but in the booklet its 10. just be there at 9 to be safe, sleep in the library if it turns out to be 10 tongue.gif

dont think you need your laptops, can just use the comps in the library after, either that or they're gonna take you to the comp labs not too sure bout that, today was a mess thanks to the system messing up ><"

So yeah, just bring your laptop in case, if anything, it's a distraction if the briefing is boring like the learning skill guys talk today...

Im interested but im not really sure what and which book should we buy for first year. Were you in in business and commerce btw?
*
depends on your subject, your unit guide on blackboard should list the relevant text books. But I reckon you shoulnt buy em yet, heard they were changing the books for some subject, so better wait for your lecturers. Unless you're pretty sure and spot some good deal on the noticeboards tongue.gif

though I reckon you shouldn't waste too
mcuh money on textbooks, some
like accountig you definitely need, but you'd probably ony use marketing and management for assignments, might as well get em from the library.

Microecons textbook would e helpful if you're the study type, textbook explains a lot, but then again, library has a ton of old copies(old version, but pretty much same content) tongue.gif

I'm accepting my offer late(just paying my fees tomorrow) so which means I am missing out on the whole orientaton week, especially the Enrolment session which I heard is oh-so important. Anyone care to fill me in the details which I MUST know? icon_question.gif I'm a BBusCom student by the way. tongue.gif
*
1. Get your authcate account at https://mdsadmin-new.monash.edu.au/cgi-bin/register
REMEMBER ALL YOUR PASSWORDS tongue.gif

2. use your newly made log in id to log in wes https://my.monash.edu.au/wes/

3. complete the enrollment questionnaire, emergency contact details and mailing name format. (Its under the enrol/re-enrol option, top left box, first option)
TAKE DOWN YOUR TRANSACTION NUMBER FOR THE ENROLLMENT QUESTIONNAIRE. you're gonna need it to get your student id.

4. complete your unit enrollment, if you're unsure about your subject, just choose 4 of the 6 core units and go to the course management office to confirm with them.
ps: business and econ stats if you're planning to go to australia, and if you're not you can choose either business and econ stats(slightly harder apparetly) or business stats(easier)

5. Head over to student services(building 2, level 2), complete the questionnaire(its at one of the counters just ask them) to get your student id(they'll take your photo id as well)

Welcome to monash, hope this helps smile.gif

ouh, once you're done the unit enrollment you can start setting your timetable.
