Contractor just came to my house and installed UNIFI yesterday. And there seem to be a problem with the wireless mode. I'm connected to the modem wirelessly with my macbook pro and i get frequently disconnected every 5 minutes. Even when I'm like 1 meter away from the modem. Wired connection works perfectly though. Was wondering whether I received a problematic modem or is there something wrong with my macbook pro?
Do assist me. Thanks in advance.

Under Wireless Settings, look for bandwidth. Change from 20/40 to 20Mhz.

I'm facing this problem too. Just had my Unifi installed yesterday. I wanted to blame the crappy router but it seems that only my macbook pro is facing the connection issue or maybe other users in my house didn't complain yet.

I gave up on the crappy TM router and just bought a TP-Link WR841ND router for RM88 instead. Been working flawlessly for now. Hope you'll get to solve your issue.

Any configurations to do when setting up that router?
Because I'm clueless bout all this. I just want to use the net wirelessly without and disconnections and how's the connection strength? As I'll be situated about 2 metres from the router.

Residential gateway - placed it back on it's original box. Keep it on the safe place. When TM technician want to troubleshoot your connection, plug in back when they on the way to your home.

TV box aka IPTV - Connect your red lan cable to the LAN PORT 4 of TL-WR841ND router.

So, basically everything will be still the same, unless you're using the new router which is far more stable and consistent than DIR-615 or TM RnD router.

You can get TL-WR841ND as low as RM80 at Lowyat. I even saw someone at garage sales sell the TL-WR841ND for just RM75... smile.gif

To setup your TL-WR841ND, you can refer to Klseet's website.... Here's the link : http://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...e&id=7&Itemid=6

Yup it's all the same because configuring or flashing the router is done through the internet browser, so it doesn't matter what OS you're using.

Seems like a lot of MAc users facing similar problems. TM should have a MAc expert or troubleshooter to help us out here because there are quite a number of MAc users around.

For all Macbook, Imac users who have problem connecting to Unifi just go to lowyat and buy the TPlink wireless router model TL-WR841ND (only rm79). after u bought it go to 4th floor look for TP-link Service center ask the guy to upgrade the firmware. go back home setup and install everything will be ok.

Hi citadel, i've the same problem that macbook pro connected to UNIFI wireless modem(the black modem with a TM logo on it; i think this type of UNIFI wireless modem is the new 1, cause the old 1 is orange color) but i get frequently disconnected every 2 minutes or half minutes, then i need to manually click on the 'airport logo' and click my UNIFI address to make it connects again!!!
I think the range between the macbook pro and UNIFI wireless modem is not the problem for me, cause the signal strength is showing 'FULL SIGNAL STRENGTH'
My sister's IPAD 2 and my bro's laptops work fine with the UNIFI wireless modem.
My macbook pro as mentioned above, can get connection but disconnect frequently whereas my sister's laptops cannot get any connections!!!
ALL OF THESE HAPPENED AFTER THE UNFI INSTALLATION, BEFORE THAT ALL IS WORK FINE WITH STREAMYX CONNECTION!!
I've tried all of the solutions about ''macbook pro wireless dropping problems'' that can get from google and this forum, unfortunately NOT WORK AT ALL!!!!!!
SO citadel, i wanna ask that whether u got the solutions for this issue a not? because i realize that this forum not longer to be active.....
If u still can't get the solution, i willing to share this with you(i don't know whether you already know this solution a not, just in case u still don't know, if so, let others to know about it wink.gif )--> 1st, go to 'SPOTLIGHT'- the magnifiy glass on your top right corner and search for ' TERMINAL ' then type--> ping '' example: google.com, yahoo.com, or your router ip address-> 192.168.0.1 " and enter it, then the terminal will show a lot of ping numbers...after that just leave the terminal open(DON'T CLOSE IT) then enjoy the stable connections wink.gif
BUT MAKE SURE THAT BEFORE YOU DO THIS, YOU ARE CONNECTED WITH THE CONNECTION....
this works for me to keep my connection stable, but it is just a temporary solution for our issue!!!
i hope to get the real solution for this issue so that i do not need to always use the terminal to maintain my wireless connection >< and same to u, i wonder it is my macbook pro's problem or UNIFI wireless modem's problem.......my macbook pro's warranty end at next year april ><
hope to get your reply soon, and if u got the solution for our macbook pro issue wink.gif if not, lets build up this forum again in order to get more solution to this issue!!!!

hi nameless798, just wanna inform you that at least for me, the constant pinging doesnt work to stabilise the same issue that i have with my mbp and unifi router. i get timeout messages when the connection quality drops, so this pinging is a good indication of the quality of the signal but unfortunately doesn't seem to improve on it.

i have done researches online the whole of today, since this morning in fact, which is when my router started acting up after having used it for a month with my new mbp.

think i'll just take the easy way out of going lowyat for the tplink router instead. sad.gif
