Need urgent help here. I'm following Boursch Soup guide and got stuck in this step


Step 3 : Increase the custom Rom partition to 1.2GB for apps installation.

4. Boot into ClockWorkMod Recovery ( CWM ) by holding power button and volume up, do not clear/wipe data, flash this package directly, same as flashing a ROM.

I can see:
Reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/ factory reset
wipe cache partition
install zip from SD card (So I select this to select partition.zip to apply, right?)

Yeah, thanks. I have sucessfully completed Step 1 to 3.
I checked whether my application has been erased after the partion. Only Angrybird lost, fruit ninja, zuma and other apps all still working.

I'm so happy. Waiting to try custom ROM.

Try this:

Open a new message, long press the bar on top (with the word TO:), Input method, copy, paste, cut will show up. Press Input method, you can select Swype, Android or Huawei keyboard. For chinese input, Huawei keyboard offer 'pinyin' and handwritting.

For pinyin, when you type fa, both 发 & 發 will show up. 发 is given priority, I have to press the right arrow button to select 發.
For writing input, you can write either Simplified or Traditional Chinese, both are supported in the same message.

Actually, no need to install google pinyin/ sogou for me.

Since x5 is UI is very plain. For those who are like me - just want to stick to the stock ROM while waiting for a stable one, but feel inadequate while comparing with colleague's Galaxy Ace. Just wanted to share some experience on enhancing X5. I found that

Go Launcher Ex make the UI much more easily to navigate around.
1. the original home screen the dock can put only 3 item (call, menu and web) --> now i can customize 5 item, and slide to left to add 5 more, slide to right to add 5 more, total 15 applications on the dock.
2. When press the middle menu button (app drawer), now i can slide left-right (instead of up-down). And i can see information like 'running programs', free/total RAM etc
3. Feel smoother than the original launcher.

Go contacts also improves my experience
1. The stock dialer doesn't have GROUP function (Galaxy Ace has) to categorise my contacts and assign different ringtone to different groups. Now i can manage them easily
2. Go contacts support T9 search/ dialing.

Pls share your 'inadequate feeling' towards x5 and things you've done to make it friendlier and more efficient.

I have installed camera 360 ultimate (Opps sorry, it's Fast Burst camera not Camera 360) & paper camera to play with some settings. Problem is, the picture on the screen is UPSIDE DOWN!

I'm using stock ROM. Anyone experience it before?

I think this is important finding to share for those who try custom ROM. When you flash to other ROM and experience upside down picture on the screen when using camera. It might not be the custom ROM fault, might be the bug is coming from the camera application bundled in the custom ROM.

Mine also takes forever to load. Even after I heard 'Voice Navigation Start', it still doesn't move and the question mark still on the top right.

Initially I thought this is due to the nilkin case blokicng the signal. I turn on Sygic and it can start to navigate already!

I'm going to uninstall Papago X5 and try again to instal the Thailand version for the landscape mode.

What's the difference of Papago M7 and X5? I though M7 for tablet only? M7 support landscape mode?

Earlier I was complaining about slow satellite fix with Papago. I have tried a fix and it worked for me. The locking time decreased from 10+ minutes to <2 minutes after I apply the fix and reboot the phone. The trick need ROOTED PHONE. Otherwise, the application screen will go blank!

Here is what I did
1) Download fasterfix https://market.android.com/details?id=com.Double.FasterFix
2) Install and run Fasterfix.
3) Select 'custom' and key in my.pool.ntp.org as the server name. Press GO to apply the change.
4) Reboot the phone and run Papago

Share if there is any improvement. If satisfied, FasterFix can be uninstalled. If travel to overseas, need to re-install and select the new server again.

Oh, I missed one step: before I run Papago, go to manage application the clear data. Not sure whether it helps or not but I did that just for the sake for a 'clean start'

Yesterday I also kena the same problem. I tried to switch on after flight landing but it stuck at IDEOS screen until the battery got warm. I tried to take out the battery and restart again but also cannot solve. At last, i reset to factory setting and all back to normal (just like the first time boot screen). To reset, take out battery, put battery back, hold Volume Up and Power key simultaneously, the recovery screen will come out.

I have no idea which applications caused this problem because I install too much!

Menu (second button) > Preferences > Effects Settings> Desk Transition effect >

default, random, bounce, cube flip wave windmill etc.

i saw the latest versionof TTPOD music player 2.4.1 support wma by a standalone decoder, without relying on the stock wma decoder. I'm using ttpod but never try to play wma before. If your music tag (artist/ title) has chinese word, ttpod can display them correctly.

Chinese-develop player but can choose either English or chinese interface. Can download lyric and song album picture automatically. Can put widget on homecreen. Can shake left/right to change song. Can set sleep timer (automatic off after xx minutes). Can set mp3 to ringtone. can make multiple playlist. Other functions I don't use so no comment.

My colleague has 100+ mp3. she has one mp3 song having the same problem like you. I guess the problem is in the ID3 tag. I suggest you edit the ID3 tag in the computer by removing all the field (artist, album, genre, year, remark...). Save the changes then try to play using ttpod again. Sometimes the problem is the mp3 file not the player.

This morning when I picked up my phone. It was shut down (i didn't turn it off). I press the power button and hell ... I stuck at the boot screen AGAIN since 2 weeks ago.

Last time when I did factory reset, some of the data still intact. I was thinking might be factory reset is not 'clean' enough. DO you think I should 'wipe data' or 'wipe dalvik cache' before factory reset? What exactly will 'wipe data' or 'wipe dalvik cache' do?

My X5 is rooted with superoneclick but stock ROM (B136). Maybe B136 is not stable. By the way, i saw there is a new stock ROM (U8800H V100R001C00B138SP01CUSTC38D001) http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_Firmware_U8800 . Anyone tried before?

I thought B138 is a stock ROM and is more stable than custom ROM. B136 is already quite good just random bootloop giving me headache, i was thinking B138 may be more stable than B136.
