Guys, interested to know how reliable is this brand/phone? Can it last long? i use my phones for a pretty long time, so...quality and sturdiness is important.

Thanks!

QUOTE(cactuscch @ Aug 31 2011, 08:24 AM)
This morning when I picked up my phone. It was shut down (i didn't turn it off). I press the power button and hell ... I stuck at the boot screen AGAIN since 2 weeks ago.

Last time when I did factory reset, some of the data still intact. I was thinking might be factory reset is not 'clean' enough. DO you think I should 'wipe data' or 'wipe dalvik cache' before factory reset? What exactly will 'wipe data' or 'wipe dalvik cache' do?

My X5 is rooted with superoneclick but stock ROM (B136). Maybe B136 is not stable. By the way, i saw there is a new stock ROM (U8800H V100R001C00B138SP01CUSTC38D001) http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_Firmware_U8800  . Anyone tried before?
*
uhhh hmm..
the safest way is wipe and reset everything
so it will return back to the default
wait for a few days to see whether is problem still there
if no, only go and flash to custom rom

I thought B138 is a stock ROM and is more stable than custom ROM. B136 is already quite good just random bootloop giving me headache, i was thinking B138 may be more stable than B136.
*
hmm..
just wipe everything and reboot your phone
let it runs with stock rom

Can u pls explain further? I'm already using stock rom B136 (never flash to custom rom since bought this phone). Because I saw newer version of stock rom B138  here http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_Firmware_U8800  . I was thinking may be Huawei has fixed some bugs and release a newer stock rom. That's why I'm asking whether anyone has tried B138 before, wheter it is more stable...
*
lol i see
uhh hmm.. so far like no people flash to that
maybe you can refer to the features
or just try it and see how

I estimate 15-20% battery discharge per day when the phone is powered on and in standby / sleep mode with no activity or very little usage like you said. So should last about 4-5 days as you can fully charge again when it goes down to 15-20%.

btw, if i wan change to other rom? which step shud i follow without delete my apps, data, file and etc?
*
haha it's okay
im using oxygen but working well
so far didnt see any bug
maybe because im using the old version biggrin.gif

uhh hmm..
you must do exactly the steps
wipe and reset are necessary to flash a new custom rom
so quite troublesome to flash a rom
really hate it rclxub.gif
need to backup, restore 1 by 1
tiring + time consuming rclxub.gif

hi, a noob question here, if i want to just overclock my phone, is not necessary to install custom rom right as long as the phone is rooted?
*
nope
by only rooting can't do it
you have to change the kernel
in other word,
flash to custom rom

i notice sometime my phone seem to lag a bit after 4-5 days without rebooting the set even though i have autokiller and etc etc. After rebooting, everything seems faster and smoother.

Do you all practise rebooting it like every few days or once a week?
*
have you read an article about task killer before?
it was telling that task killer is highly not recommended to use
because many apps
they'll auto reopen even though you use task killer to force stop it
and everytime you kill and they reopen
it consumes battery
and cause some bads
so it's better to close apps properly
or when u feel lag
just reboot your phone smile.gif
