Please help yourself and everyone by telling what software you use, whether you are editing or playing a video? Someone will know in a way or another, but no one in the world would know how to help you with if you dont provide details -.-

1) extract the audio from the *.mkv file 2) convert the audio (whatever the form is) to *.wav 3) use any *.wav editor to increase the overall volume (personally i like Nero Wav Editor best) 4) save the edited *wav as *.mp3 5 mux back the audio into your *.mkv file *** you can discard the original audio or just inject the newly made *.mp3 into the *.mkv file, making it multi-audio |

Depend on what media player you use, there's usually an audio option to
'Normalize' the volume. CODE http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_normalization If you use Vista/Win7, you can also set it at: Control Panel > Sound > (double-click your default speaker) > Enhancement Tab > Tick 'Loudness Equalization. (depend on what sound card you use, you may not have the option. btw, you can enhance your bass sound the same way by setting the bass freq to 80hz, and boost lvl to 24db) This post has been edited by Mats01: Jul 23 2011, 09:14 AM Attached thumbnail(s) |

^ Only onboard soundcard like Realtek and C-Media have those option on audio control panel.
Other soundcard like Asus Xonar and Auzentech can increase the audio further on thier own audio control software. As for movie if the voice is too soft its probably the audio track is multichannel. can try AC3filter to perform Downmixing if the audio track is really 5.1 channels. |

You can also do this:
For MPC-HC: Go to View --> Options Click at Internal Filters --> Audio Switcher Tick at 'Normalize' Click Apply and OK. For VLC, if you want to increase the sound volume even further: Go to Tools --> Preferences Click at Audio Tick at 'Normalize volume to:' Set the value to 3.00 or what ever value you want Click Save. |

Probably every video/sound editor have this, just drag the volume meter above 100% to amplify the sound.

If you use K-lite codec pack it will bundle with Media Player Classic.... In Media Player Classic screen, right click go to Filter --> ffdshow Audio Decoder ---> Properties.
In Properties Box, check the Volume checkbox and check the Normalize checkbox and you can either increase the volume using master volume max. 300%.... |
