sorry..i am noob in hackintosh...I have re-discovered hackintosh and is thinking of re-doing this project again. I did play with hackintosh a few years back and was successful in installing OSX into a netbook and a low-end PC back then. However during that time we don't have tools like unibeast or multibeast.
First, I would like to know if my current system is able to install OSX Lion without major problems. MSI P67a-c45-b3 Intel i5 2420 Asus GTX560Ti Second, I have 64GB SSD, is it enough to share this with windows 7 and OSX on a dual boot? Third, if my spec is not compatible enough, which motherboard model I can get in Malaysia that is most hackintosh friendly? Obviously, it has to be gigabyte as this is recommended in tonymac. Fourth, anybody using parallels? How good is the compatibility of it with games? Can it run directx without problems? Maybe not the latest games but perhaps works with older games? Thanks. |

QUOTE(mikelanding @ Oct 2 2013, 01:33 PM) I did some search on your mobo model. It seem no problem on install Lion or even ML. ok thanks bro for the insightful information. I did expect 64GB to be not enough. Will definitely get another 64GB SSD for osx.Suggest ML since the VGA compatibility are better compare to Lion for older card. 64gb is not really enough to dual booting. Also, dual booting 2 OS on 1 HDD/SSD will make the hackintosh harder to stable. Would suggest 1OS on 1 HDD/SSD if you got extra HDD. Gaming on virtual software? I dont think you will get smooth, optimized experience even on older game. I setup dual booting (2 OS on 2 SSD). Window for gaming, OSX for daily PC usage. Found this way to be easier to maintain and troubleshoot if problem arise. As for dual booting, I had this problem in the pass where I had to reboot to windows always when I need to run games or other things that cannot run on osx. So I ended up spending more time on windows and eventually did not bother to reboot back to osx since almost everything I want to do can be done in windows. However, I really love osx and would really want to use it as my main OS for all my computing. So now still considering and since my existing system can run ML fine then my cost would be to only get another SSD and/or add more RAM. Really thinking of doing this project. |

QUOTE(wen9x88 @ Dec 1 2013, 06:27 PM) I just format my hackintosh and reinstall windows 8. have you tried with various chimera boot options? Such as -x or PCIRootUID=0 and so on. Depending on your hardware.I recreate the unibeast in my usb drive but when I choose the installation usb ,it will automatic restart not allow me get into the installation. I guess there is some problem with the kernel, anyone know how to solve it ? I choose the first one usb with the installer, but it will automatic restart » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

amd firepro is too expensive. Plus, anyone willing to spend that kind of money might as well spend them on a REAL mac.

QUOTE(afis34 @ Dec 31 2013, 06:47 PM) It's enough for Mac osx 60gb?. Because I'm using 60gb is enough because the other software I installed it on hdd. Can Mac do like that also?. 60gb ssd is more than enough. My hackintosh only used 25+ gb. That also include parallels copy for windows 7 vm.You can always put big software in your HDD. But with more than 30gb still in there, you can put adobe premiere suits and others and still have enough space. Just the data and games put it in hdd will do. |

QUOTE(izzi_guy @ Jan 6 2014, 06:07 PM) fanboyism detected....with some replies....Anyway, it is true lots of people complain about mavericks. It is actually quite buggy for Apple's standard. A lot of users revert back to mountain lion. There are a lot of minor issues like wifi problems, sound problem, samba problem and so on. One of the problem that sort of made me stop using mavericks is the GPU management problem. The graphics drivers is not stable. Many machines have problem with GPU not able to throttle back to low speed after a game playing session. Hence the heat keep staying very hot. This should be addressed in 10.9.2 but that have yet to be released. There are numerous other problems as well but not all system have these issues. Some works fine.
