I just started watching Awake and it's pretty good i must say. Actually, its the best thing i've seen in a while since GoT and Breaking Bad. The premise while not completely original, is still intriguing and the story in each eps so far have been absorbing.
Breaking Bad is up there with the Wire imo. It's one hell of a tv show, some of the stuff really blew my mind. The characters progress well unlike most characters in other tv shows where they remain constant and never ever evolve. This makes the story unpredictable and leaves you wanting for more after each EP.
Just caught up with Newsroom as well and i really enjoyed the pilot. The 2nd ep was a bit of mess but i hope that was the actual intent of it i.e. the crew are simply inexperienced and being all over the place.
The Americans's pilot is brilliant and one of the better ones in recent time. It's like Bourne the tv series. Love the casting and how good is that score during the chase at the start of the show ? Finally something decent to watch other than the usual top ones.
Just finished watching the first season of Rectify. OMFG amazing tv series. From the opening theme i knew i was gonna like the show from the get-go. It's not for everyone because A) its a drama and B) its very slow paced. But other than that, it has everything that i like in tv series or films for that matter. Great script, great cast and amazing cinematography. Fans of Terrance Malick will appreciate the intense characters, intricate story telling and amazing shots in the series. It saddens me that i have to wait more than a year for the next season

Daniel Holden must put his life back together after serving 19 years on Georgia's Death Row before DNA evidence calls his conviction into question.
Rectify are pretty good.. the lead actor was awesome..
though there were many 'starring into empty spaces' ala Walter White (of Breaking Bad. the producer are same i think). the pace are slow. this show not built for long run game. 2 season are probably too long. the incident (rape and murder) were probably just teenagers madness /accident, cant elaborate much. initially i thought they could conclude it in sole season.
but overall, i love it..
Yeah that's pretty much my feelings as well. The entire season could have pretty much ended then and there, and i would be pretty happy about it. But having said that, i think there's still story left to be told especially in regards to the crime itself. My gut feeling is that the people are not what they seem to be and being a close knit town, i reckon there are more secrets yet to be discovered. Be interesting to see what story arch they gonna go with next season.
im not impressed with the pilot. i put this series same level with Marvel SHILED agents (which i already dropped it). will give a go for 2nd episode, before drop it for good. the acting are so-so.
the main idea are OK (chip in the guy's head), in fact i love it. but the super computer ability are too advance, too implausible for my liking. close to nonsense..
Yeah i haven't seen it but i was already leaning towards not seeing it because of the very reasons you listed. I'm not fond with the idea of giving a character 'god mode' because it gives the writers too much freedom and allows them to cross into the realm of nonsensical plots and devices.

Helix is more like Bodysnatcher or The Thing without the gruesome metamorphosis.
And speaking of transformation, I'm astounded at Matthew McConaughey sudden reinvention as an actor. He has truly become one of Holywood elites. He looks great in True Detective and I quite enjoyed the pilot. Seems like another HBO hit with great script and cast.
Watched Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter (Our mothers, our fathers) or Generation War over the weekend. It's basically an authentic and genuine german production 'band of brothers' but through the the german's eyes and point of view. I really enjoyed this. It is very well made with great cinematography, musical score, casting and acting. The story is diverse, the combat scenes are intense and the grim depiction of the german's brutality is both honest and horrifying.
Overall, i highly recommend it. It's a must watch if you're a fan of that period.
New series , silicon valley and the after.. Any good?
Nice, been looking forward to Silicon Valley! Thinks this is supposed to be the nerdy replacement for Entourage. But I've seen The After, it's not bad - very x files like. No idea if its getting picked up tho.
