Just finished watching the first season of Rectify. OMFG amazing tv series. From the opening theme i knew i was gonna like the show from the get-go. It's not for everyone because A) its a drama and B) its very slow paced. But other than that, it has everything that i like in tv series or films for that matter. Great script, great cast and amazing cinematography. Fans of Terrance Malick will appreciate the intense characters, intricate story telling and amazing shots in the series. It saddens me that i have to wait more than a year for the next season sad.gif

Rectify are pretty good.. the lead actor was awesome..

though there were many 'starring into empty spaces' ala Walter White (of Breaking Bad. the producer are same i think). the pace are slow. this show not built for long run game. 2 season are probably too long. the incident (rape and murder) were probably just teenagers madness /accident, cant elaborate much. initially i thought they could conclude it in sole season.

but overall, i love it..

The Killing S3

pretty good start i think. this time possibility of serial killer and multiple bodies involved. the show seem more progressive and quicker pace, but still retain routine a-day-of-investigation-per-episode.

The Bridge
good start i think, nothing extra ordinary. will keep my interest. 2 cops (Mexican and American) working together to solve a mysterious murders in Mexico-USA border. Diane Kruger in it.

Ray Donovan
not as good as initially i thought, but will give a go. basically a male, rougher version of Olivia Pope (Scandal). a 'fixer' working for athletes and Hollywood celebrities.

The Newsroom and Suits starting this week.. nice series..

my early verdicts on new series, based on pilot only..

Hostages
pretty good start. will definitely watch it. conspiracy to kill US President, hostage situation, some Bruckheimer good actions etc.

The Blacklist
meh. will try the 2nd episode, probably will drop it.

Sleepy Hollow
meh. dont like it and will drop it.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D
not impressed. will try another episode.

The Wrong Mans UK
i like it. will definitely follow it. couple a misfit office workers trying to be a hero (saving a hostage). parody-ish some of well known movies.

The Crazy Ones
some big names in there. not impressed but will try another episode.

Hello Ladies
okay-ish, good. a misfit British guy try to find a love in NY. funny and pity at the same time.

on wiki

Reception

Ironside has received negative reviews. It currently holds a 19% approval rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes with an average score of 4.3 out of 10 and the summary, "Ironside is an unnecessary, lackluster remake that could be a decent police procedural if it wasn't so mundane and monotonous."

Brian Tallerico of HollywoodChicago called it the "Worst New Drama of 2013" and awarded it 1 star out of 5, saying: "[Ironside is] the most cliched, least believable, least fun, and just awful new drama of the year. It is aggressively bad. Avoid at all costs. Blair Underwood... deserves better than the horrendous, uninteresting writing here. [Ironside] should be a way to explore how our physical well-being is only one part of our lives and how we approach our work, even crimefighting. It’s not. It’s just manipulative drama that hopes to make you stand up and cheer by reminding you over and over again how tough its title character remains."

Neil Genzlinger of The New York Times called the title character "an unpleasant combination of macho and brusque" and their handling of his disability "thuddingly didactic" and "one that is not doing real people with disabilities any favors." He called the storylines "bland", the reason for Ironside's disability "predictable" and the writing "plodding".

Robert Bianco of USA Today gave the show 1.5 stars out of 4. He called it an "atrociously clunky" remake that "jettison[ed] whatever wit and intelligence the original possessed."

The Assets

its comparable to The Americans. same era (80s), cold wars between US and russian, the main protagonist is a woman, struggling between spy /intelligence works and a family.

judging from the pilot, The Assets will be as good as The Americans (which i like..)
