How effective are those roof top turbines?

How about those aluminium sheets on the roof? Do they help? I notice that my house has them installed.

Those aluminium sheets are those thin ones, not the more expensive and thicker ones with bubbles etc. Not sure how effective are those.

As for hte turbine, is the difference in temperature noticable? It's it ok when it's rainy, wouldn't want water to get in the roof. Any good vendor to recommend in Penang for this ?
