I'ev tried all these Carrefour/Tesco brand coffees and such....taste like shit....no thanks. I'll buy my engine oil from Petrol station and official SC. At least, i know 100% what i am getting. My car is too expensive to be cheapskate. Later pennywise, pound foolish....repair car engine...die mang.

QUOTE(ultramaman @ Jul 8 2011, 09:13 AM) have u tried buying magnatec or shell helix ultra from tesco ? these are made in the e.u and are brought in through tesco's channels, therefore are sold here cheaper than locally packed ones. for e.g i recently bought , during a weekend offer, shell helix ultra for 80 bucks. the packing date was first quarter of this year... castrol edge is sold for around 150 bucks... and its tesco. i dont think they sell fakes.... tesco brand oils.... im wondering who their supplier is ... is it BP ? if its BP, then, tesco oil must be the same as castrols ... right ? Haven't tried those yet...but i might try those since those have brands on it and not OEM Tesco brand....i like to know exactly what i put in my car. Btw, how's the magnatec?? The one selling Tesco semi synth or full synth?

QUOTE(gkl83 @ Jul 8 2011, 12:15 PM) i never buy OEM stuff from hypermarket... bcos i tried to buy carrefour brand soda biscuit cheaper than hup seng brand soda biscuit just about few cents only, the crispy no good enough compare to hup seng brand... learnt a lesson: cheap doesn't means good quality... I agreed....all these foodstuff by OEM brand like Tesco/Carrefour...all tak boleh makan...i would doubt the quality of the engine oil as well....who knows...maybe it's oil which does not pass QC from the manufacturer and they sell it cheap to Tesco/Carrefour lor....rejected oils....

QUOTE(ultramaman @ Jul 11 2011, 10:44 AM) so far i've no issue with the shell, and castrol oil that i bought from tesco. in fact. i recently bought a bottle of shell helix ultra at 80 ringgit. fresh bottle pulak tu. ( bargain price i know). its now in my car, and i've no issues. but i found something out. the oils that they sell in tesco is actually brought in through their channels from the UK. so for some of the product, the oil spec is lower that what u can get locally. for example. castrol magnatec 10-40 tesco is sl rated. the one sold locally is actually sm rated. i think most engine oils officially sold in malaysia is at the moment sm and sn rated. where else , in the uk. most fully syn is sm rated, most semi is sl rated. Added on July 11, 2011, 10:45 ami dare not lor. besides. 30 bucks extra can buy castrol already... Nice info. Do they rate the oil on the TESCO packaging bottle?? by rite should show what SAE and grade rite?

QUOTE(mdnurman @ Jul 11 2011, 04:13 PM) i have been using shell helix ultra fully synthetic bought from tesco for rm99 a bottle (4L). usually bought 2-3 bottles everytime. been using for the past 70k+ km. better power compared to petronas oil. so far i am satisfied with shell ultra helix from tesco... save me rm100 from normal price. Got so cheap meh??? I thought i saw Shell Helix Ultra at Carrefour the other day..RM 200++ wor if i am not wrong. Like that i also go TESCO!
