@ppslim, keep vcore below 1.45 and temp below 60s, whichever comes first. also read moar la, oc'ing amd =/= upping cpu multi + voltage. and (imo) be very conservative wink.gif

read this too: http://semiaccurate.com/2012/11/20/overclo...0/#.UUpTm6zxFf8 (if tl; dr fx 8350 can reach 4.5ghz on stock cooling )

ah i see , i also did wanted to buy a better fam processor ,i thought i can overclock it around 5.0-5.2 with a better ones haha...
*
5ghz need very good (and expensive tongue.gif) air/liquid cooler, good (high-end) mobo with vrm cooling, and fast (1600/1866) ram -this is mostly true for 8-core visheras;
the quad/hexa cores are rated at lower tdp so maybe can skimp a bit on the mobo and cpu-cooling -i think i read this in some forum... just be careful and good luck biggrin.gif

can choose either one, or preferably both -try to keep "CPU" < 70*C and "Package" < 60*C. seems there are issues with 3rd party temp monitors and teh fx-series blush.gif

i'd also suggest you look into other temp monitoring softwares (speedfan/realtemp/etc.) and compare wink.gif

(edit) how are your current temps compared to stock?

yep, sometimes teh temp monitor software will give weird idle temps reading with the FXs -it shouldn't be lower than the room/ambient temp (air or water-cooling).

so now that the water pump is sorted, what's the temp under load @ stock?

aim for 5Ghz 24-7?! brows.gif

@raydenex actually those temps (46-47*c coretemps) are good -imo, and try to up vcore a bit and see if it can withstand prime95 (not my favorite, but to each his own wink.gif

i'm with 'quick and dirty' stress test crowd -prime/occt stable for 1-2hrs and ibt 10-20 runs icon_rolleyes.gif

prime95 is actually not a CPU stressing or stability testing software* -ibt and occt are... biggrin.gif

long story short TDP = how much heat can the processor take

how much heat can the CPU cooler handle
QUOTE
cache = how fast the processor can work , lower cache = more faster work done
am i correct?
*

...depends on the CPU's architecture and what it was designed for -"higher" or "lower" cache does not necessarily mean faster or slower 'work' done. just think of them as CPU's equivalent of system RAM

The new eight-core 5GHz FX-9590 and 4.7GHz FX-9370 feature AMD’s latest “Piledriver” architecture, which was designed to allow higher clock speeds. They also come “unlocked,” which means that end users are free to push their clock speeds and voltage levels even higher. but with the risk that the chips may overheat.
