guys.. i unlock and OC my proc. phenom II 555 to B55 @ 3.8ghz at 1.37v.
i only up my multiplier to x19 and bus speed at 200mhz. i stress it with OCCT for 10min. and its stable and gaming it for few hours also no crash at all. Is there a need for me to stress it again for 1-8 hours to test its stability?? 1st time OC here.. kinda noob..

i tried OC to 4.0ghz at 1.40v, it boots to windows without problem. but crash after few minutes of OCCT test. whats missing here? why cant i stable at 4.0ghz..

will post some screeny when i get back home.

spec:
Phenom II 555- now B55 3.8ghz
2 x 2gb team elite ram
MSI 990fxa-gd65
640gb hdd
gigabyte 6850 OC edition

guys.. i'm new to overclocking. only know how to up the cpu voltage and multiplier. Got a phenom II 555 unlock to B55 at 3.8ghz stable at 1.38v. However, i would like to go for 4.0ghz for daily usage, tried 1.43v, played games for few minutes, bsod.

i'm not familiar with cpu-nb ratio, dram timing, nb voltage, dram voltage and so on, so there are all on auto ATM.. any sifus here can help me achieve 4.0ghz? thanks..

heres a few screenshot of my bios current setting..

Specs as of my siggy

3.8Ghz w/ 1.38v considered quite ok already (for an unlocked x4 b55). i remember back then i managed to 3dm11 @ 4GHz but with tonnes of vcore, ~1.5 or slightly more. i'd say go with 3.8GHz for 24/7 with nb & ram tweaked a 'lil. try nb @ 2.5~2.6GHz, ram really depends. for phenom 2 iirc u can go up to 1900MHz ish, again depends on how good ya module is. for 24/7 i wont go for > 1.45v for vcore, > 1.4v for cpu-nb voltage. vdimm wise u wont really wanna run > 1.7v for such setup.  smile.gif

for ya reference: (done with non 900 serie boards thou)

thanks for the tips.. will give it a try and see how much i can hit.

Just wondering, for gaming, is it worth upgrading to a fx8320 or just stick to what i have. looking at the chart HERE, my B55 3.8ghz should be a phenom II 980BE right? and fx8320 is at the same hierarchy. hmm.gif should i change it or just stick to my trusty 5 years old B55.. rclxub.gif

my concern is will i see significant higher fps in games and faster speed when doing photo and video editing? thanks.. notworthy.gif
