Stressing out my proc after changing to WC.

using prime95, i stressed it for 1 hour.
Attached Image

then, not quite sure about the temperature, i run the test again, this time for two hour.
Attached Image

looking at the TMPIN0, TMPIN1, TMPIN2, i'm not sure whether the temperature really goes up to 85C.

btw, below is my previous stress test using xigmatek archilles.

Hi all.

wanna ask about something about ram. i'm using BE proc. so, i oc just by increasing the multiplier. not adjusting fsb, so the ram clock should be as default right?

so, does it make any difference if i'm using value ram rather than "oc ram"?

Wow. This thread has been idle for about 2 weeks! Where does everybody go? hmm.gif

Put that aside, i want to ask something. What is the advantage of lower TDP? Does lower TDP means i can pump more volt on the chip or vice versa? Another thing, i would like some suggestion. I've been using phenom II 555 (manage to unlock to x4, but stuck at 3.6GHz only) for about 3 years, thinking to upgrade. What is the best bang for the buck for a new amd chip + mobo for gaming reason?

Hopefully can get an answer here. Wake up people! lol

Entirely just for gaming?  hmm.gif

For budget i think FX4300 (RM409) + Gigabyte 970A-DS3 (RM269) would do, in gaming around Core i3 3220 level..
For extra budget i think FX8320 (RM559) + Asus M597 LE R2.0 (RM330) would do, should be around Core i5 3470~3550 level.. thumbup.gif

mainly will use for gaming + entertainment (connect to a tv and watch movies). will do some oc, just for fun.

QUOTE(raydenex @ May 28 2013, 04:33 PM)
I'll suggest the FX8320 paired with an ASRock 990FX Extreme3. IMO best value mobo with 990FX chipset. At least go with the highest end AM3+ chipset, not 970.
*
QUOTE(cloudwan @ May 28 2013, 05:02 PM)
For gaming, choice of mobo doesnt effect much, thats for sure, unless the user going to crossfire in the future, a cheapo 970 chipset will do..
*
Should i wait for the next gen amd proc (4350 or 6350) or just go for FX8320? i think my phenom2 555 will bottleneck my gc (7870xt). thats why i want to upgrade the proc.

Do you have plans to crossfire/SLI in the future? If no, then yes just get a 970 chipset AM3+ board will do and save some cash in the process. 7870XT crossfired does quite well, and affordable enough for you to consider getting another in the near or mid future. Really depends on the games you play and at what resolution/quality you want to play them at. If it was me, I'd go with 990FX board, and the ASRock one is as affordable as they come, at approximate RM 380 price and decent quality too. Don't skimp out when buying a mobo is the lesson I've learnt, get something with some quality.

Also a 990FX board would be best suited to support next FX series (Steamroller) compared to a 970. So there.

i dont think i will do a crossfire, at least not for now. hmm, then i'll be searching for a FX8320. will do some more research about what mobo to use. thanks guys notworthy.gif

Any estimation when AMD will release new chipset? 9xx series seems to be around for a while now. Want to upgrade my rig, but donno to wait for a new chipset or just buy 9xx series.

not so sure AMD will keep d aging 990FX chipset, but if it means performance boost on cpu & i/o performance, by all mean just do it.  smile.gif

Right now my rig is not so bad. Still can play games without lag. Just my hand itchy, want to try something new. Huhu. Thanks for the link btw.

budget wise 970 evo/pro should be cheaper ma. if budget not a concern can consider GD80/990X EVO.  smile.gif

i thought if budget is not an issue, should go with Asus ROG board. Or this board is over sell?

Whats the worst can happen if an oc is failed?

1. Windows wont boot ---> BSOD ---> HDD will corrupt faster

Anything else?

major concern is hdd, not really bothered with d rest. but to think that there's a need to reformat + installation of drivers, there's no harm to try oc gradually instead of directly pump d clock to x.xGHz. not like if u run it @ x.xGHz for sometimes (even it's not stable) it will become stable later on. dont think ppl do "Burn In" nemore like last time... tongue.gif

U r still around! Hehe. Ok, noted. i'll be using ssd to play-play with da chip, so the risk of corrupted ssd is lower compared to hdd. If i didnt increase the vcore so much, everything else will be ok right? now still in assembling process, hopefully can settle by this weekend then can start play rclxm9.gif

This thread is dying. No more love for AMD I suppose. I have a Bulldozer FX8320E at 4.4GHz Prime95 2 hours stable. Can't go beyond that on my motherboard with 6+2 power phase can't handle it.

Though, at that clock it's still inferior in gaming compared to my old Sandy Bridge 2500k at 4.0GHz. Game I've tried are more geared towards CPU intensive coded game as such as Source engine games, eg: Dota 2, CS:G0 (30 players full), Starcraft 2,  MMORPG such as TERA, Blade & Soul (in town where a lot of players spawn), Battlefield 4 with 50~60 players.

I don't know why AMD chips are weaker despite having a high clock.

AMD used to be king.  No longer now.

Lets make a comeback guys. Recently, i've bought a Kaveri chip X4 860K. Planning to OC it after this.

OCing AMD sure is fun, but I'm not doing it for the thrill, I'm expecting the result will be reflected in gaming framerates, so far it has let me down due to old fabrication and tech.

I'll be back once Zen is out.
*
Yep, u are right. OCing amd just for fun. Hopefully Zen wont disappoint us all smile.gif

Btw, here's my proc on full load. Blend test for 1 hour, at stock clock, using stock cooler. I think the temp shown on HWmonitor is not accurate. 103C! Any other temp monitor software you guys can recommend?
