Not necessary, it depends what kind of wood you are getting/using.

Cheap chapalang wood surely won't last long.
Chengai Batu will last you very long.
(that's why it has the name of Batu).

Seriously, this kind of built may be well looking and nice.
But it will catch and accumulate lot of dust which you cannot easily clean, which look not so nice after sometimes.
