Last night i drove my Viva manual going uphill, then there was roadblock on the top of the hill, so traffic jam happen and all car stop and go. Suddenly while maintain acceleration, brake and clutch to move forward(slowly), there burning smell in my car and it become more odor until i pass the road block. I thought it was a brake pad so after the road block i stop and check the brake pad but not smelly there, it's in the front of engine bay near radiator. I was quite worried, so i assume the radiator not function. But after few while run the engine(idle) the radiator kicks in and i was relief. Then i drove back home with no problem. What's the burning smell actually??

QUOTE(DATO CHIKA @ Jul 6 2011, 11:15 AM) Boss, coz u using manual, if go uphill got bad odur, it is definetely ur clutch plate almost "haus" need to replace for more power. If really haus, ur car still can go but cannot climb hill redi... If going down hill got odur, it is ur brake pad burnt smell, it is normal when u apply heavy brake downhill. K? please get it change, rm 200 to 300 Clutch plate eh? I suspect too.... Since quite experiencing clutch judder. My car still under warranty, will get it change for free at Perodua SC right??This post has been edited by Predatorazor84: Jul 6 2011, 11:27 AM |

QUOTE(joefbi @ Jul 6 2011, 02:54 PM) no...your clucth plate still ok if your car is new...burning clucth alweys happen to ppl who's play on clucth balancing while climbing hill in traffic jammed... How can use foot brake but not use clutch for manual tranny liao to avoid clucth burning, use handbrake...or, u can use foot brake but need to play well with throttle, just like u use handbrake... i beleive, it just clucth burns...not clucth worn out...ok Using handbrake is a good idea, but if the car moving slowly climbing hill (road block) how lerr, must use clutch also.... What different clutch burn and worn out?? Have to replace also right? Why no warranty, even sliding windows got warranty.... |

QUOTE(joefbi @ Jul 6 2011, 09:23 PM) If u really used with manual tranny, u aso can use foot brake to duplicate handbrake function, need foot work to make it works...like in drift car...step ur throttle with toe, but feet still on brake. pushing your throttle abit than let go the brake. I rarely use handbrake while stop at traffic lite...just use foot brake, make it works just like u use the handbrake...go practise, u will know what i mean. this is only for experienced driver and knows his car better than others. dont talk to me about safety... of coz more safety on handbrake. i just wanna tell u it's possible to do. Thanks for the info, waa heel and toe meh?? Must learn from Takumi to perform that kind of skill how ler...u moving slowly must balanced clucth arrr? u are moving rite? use low gear than drive slowly larrr... u drive manual or not?...its happen when u want to move, from complete stop (this condition happen like traffic jammed, move than stop, move again and stop again...only this time happen on hill climb) so need to press more throttle and balance the clucth for moving ahead to climb loh...if slow moving only, this condition not happen loh. so, from complete stop, why cannot use hand brake? clucth burn due to overheat like happen in the above situation...but still have clucth. clucth worn out due to wear and tear...your clucth gone ady...need to replace. Added on July 7, 2011, 11:00 am QUOTE(clearcase @ Jul 6 2011, 11:51 PM) i remember the 1st time i climb genting with persona auto, got burning smell oso.. i think it's normal maybe due to excessive heating Haiyaaa.... Bersih road block one lerr.... Stupid roadblock btw, why they setup roadblock on top of hill? wanna troll student driver is it? This post has been edited by Predatorazor84: Jul 7 2011, 11:00 AM |

QUOTE(gkl83 @ Jul 8 2011, 08:42 AM) or it could be burn smell from other cars? since all cars gathered in front the roadblock which is full with exhaust fume too... I doubt smell from other car bcoz i stop after the dumb roadblock at the bus stop and smell my engine, definitely there Yeah it still can drive fine like usual, therefore i'm not go for check at SC. At least for now eh.... Maybe it didn't last long enough for another 10k |
