QUOTE(Jurlique @ Aug 13 2011, 05:20 PM) LOL! you missed the boat. It hit rock bottom on Thursday then staged a sharp rebound on Friday. If there is no bad news over the weekends, i expect STI to move up to recoup some of the losses on Monday. Even the DJI and NYSE index surged on Friday (night in SG). But of course, these days anything could happen.... Added on August 14, 2011, 12:50 am QUOTE(RabbitS @ Aug 13 2011, 04:03 PM) there's certainly somekind of justification for employers to pay them that much... smu only offers business degrees and singapore being more of a financial hub now which offers services that comes with higher profit margin, no doubt these people gets paid higher I was "told" generally SMU students can present themselves better than say NTU Students or NUS students. I dunno though....it really depends on individual and not all position requires one to be able to present themselves...Added on August 14, 2011, 12:59 am QUOTE(deodorant @ Aug 12 2011, 01:10 PM) Great! My co is also going to shift to the black building in feb. Heard the food there is super duper expensive.BTW i work in Chinatrust Commercial Bank in the Syndication team located currently in Raffles Place. haih...no more cheap food at market street foodcourt, etc.... QUOTE(venicelim @ Aug 15 2011, 02:54 PM) I am not trying to blame anyone, not HR nor MOM. U tak suka, u keluar!I just try to express my opinion and my bad experience with HR ppl. Pls, if it happens on you, where the HR drag for whole week, what will you feel then? And I have my own reason and ambitious of why I want to work in Singapore. It is not up to you to judge nor I need to tell you my reason. And pls, dun come out with the reply that "you have to compete with many other ppl better than you from all over the whole.." "what make you think the company should hire you..." or even "what do you have that make you more outstanding form others..." or even "you are just an intern..." or whichever reply like that. Because I know and I am aware of this competition in Singapore. Again, What I want to express is just my bad experience with HR to share with you guyz. *no offense* |

Looks like SG are really pissed about FT. We live in tough times....
But to be fair to them, we would also say the same if it was FT from China, India, Indonesia all comming to M'sia to snatch jobs away from the local M'sian, if our gov imposes a lax rule. Further, if foreigners could not make a living in SG, they can always to back to their hole country. If yr a SIngaporean and you cannot find a job in SG, then your dead...no where to run...cannot go kampong plant rice....no agriculture land in SG... |

QUOTE(Lester1987 @ Aug 17 2011, 09:32 AM) oh ya... i missed out Mercury8400. he can call WP holder rubbish... Techincally i don't work "in" SG. I'm only in SG 3-5 months in a year, after that i will work someplace else. So whatever passes don't make a difference for me anyway(cept for the 3-5 mths)...and what is the difference between P1 or P2? Better hospitality?so he must be holding a P1 pass in SG. |

In that case as M'sia we should have a headstart in terms of income, since most SG men forfeited 2 years of their working life for NS. and also since SG women only see $$$$.....win, win situation....for us

QUOTE(crapp0 @ Aug 18 2011, 03:17 PM) But the people who are most likely to ask about your permit/status in singapore society is foreigners themselves, a good example would be mercury. Wrong! I don't really care about the WP class more or less than anybody else. Like everybody we all generalise the type of person you are base on yr salary which could be determine by the type of work pass you have. So generally if your on anything below S-pass shows that yr salary is genenrally below a certain level, hence the labelling. Kinda like if you see a gang of Indonesian contruction worker loitering around in Malaysia, you'll be more cautious coz you don't know if they will rob/kill you. Sure not every Indonesian construction worker in Malaysia is a killer/robber but none the less, the perception remains. But you won't really care if they are Indonesian professionals/businessman. You can call me a judgemental bas&^%$$ but let's face it, we all are...just that i have the balls to admit it and you don't..... |
