QUOTE(venicelim @ Aug 3 2011, 08:31 PM)
Guys, my story may seems long, but pls read. I really need advice

my case:
end of June - Got the job offer at end of June. Ask for offer letter, the HR just send me a notification in email, like the salary, and other terms. Asked for an official formal offer letter again, but no update. Wondering WTH so difficult to come out with offer letter for me?!

11/7 - the HR finally helped me to apply for TEP.

12/7 - immediately saw the application rejected. Emailed the HR, no reply. Called her (the HR in charge of my case is a malay lady, with title senior HR executive), no one pick up call.

14/7 - HR lady called me back, said MOM told that should submit my SPM cert and university internship placement verification letter together with appeal. Emailed the documents for HR and wait for her to help me appeal.

18/ 7 - HR emailed me and said she has helped me to appeal and waiting for MOM approval.

29/7 - Two weeks passed and no news, emailed HR to ask for update. HR replied me, said my TEP application is rejected. Reason is a common one :"The reason – The prospective employee does not meet their criteria for approval.".She said will call MOM on monday to ask for info.  But the weird side is, I checked the application status on MOM EPonline website, the application status still remained at 11/7, which is my first application. It seems that my appeal on 18/7 has no status update yet. So weird.

1/8 - on 29/7, HR said will call MOM and let me know the update. But no update from HR is received.

3/8 - Called the HR many times, managed to get the the HR at the end. The HR said, "can you go and apply the permit yourself?" I said no, I cant. I am in KL. Then I asked, the EPonline website, i checked and the status still remained at 11/7, not 18/7 of appeal. I asked whether she miss-looked the date and told me rejected as the previous first application. But she said confirmed is rejected. Cz she can see 18/7 is rejected. Again, very weird why I cant see the 18/7 status on EPonline. She somemore told me that has been calling MOM for the pass few days but cant get to them, so duno the reason why my appeal is rejected. Then she said will help me to call again and HOPEFULLY can update me by this week.

Is there problem with the hr personnel or is that I have been thinking too much?

WT*!!! I am frustrated. Do you guys think that the HR did not help me to appeal at all? Cz it is not convincing that
1) she said she can see that 18/7 appeal is rejected while I cant see the status in EPOnline.
2) she said called but cant get to the MOM, so cant ask why my appeal is rejected.

I am thinking of calling up the company receptionist, and ask to transfer line to HR MANAGER and complain everything to the manager? Or call to the hiring manager and ask for help from hiring manager? Or call the HR and scold her all over again?
Which method is more rational to do and is probably helpful in my case?

And Guys, the company is not a small chinaman nor SME company. It is an international company, wit office and subsidiaries all over 40 countries in the world, with headquarter at Germany.

So I am wondering what should I do next?
Should I call up and look for the HR manager and tell everything and ask for attention?
*
Why don't you personally call up MOM and ask about its status again?I mean just to double confirm..because you said u can't see your status on the EPOnline...how hard can that be?

Nope. I didnt scold her.
Today in the phone call, i verified with her whether it is true or not that the appeal is rejected.
And then she asked me whether i can apply permit myself, i told her nicely that i cant.
And at the end of the call, she said that she will help me to call up MOM again and hopefully can update me by this week.
I am absolutely very frustrated but i didnt scold her. Somemore i said thank you to her at the end.
I am thinking of wana called up the HR manager or hiring manager to draw their attention.
Byw, i am also wondering that is the HR tipu me that she has appealed while she didnt help me to appeal?
cz she said rejected but i cant see in EPonline.
*
maybe EPOnline gets updates slower?idk......

Just arrived in SG a few hours ago.

Speaking of the embarkation/disembarkation card, I placed 14 days as my period of stay, and the passport stamp stated 30 days.

Will there be any implications if I stayed longer than 14 days from my date of arrival, but less than 30 days as stated on the stamp?
*
No issue...there's standard stamp is normally 30days...even if its like a 2-3 days of short trip....they'll still stamp a 30days

Do you mean with a 30 days stamp we are still able to stay up to 90days ?
*
no....with a 30days stamp.......will only get u 30days...but after that u need to get another stamp that will last your another 30days...after that YOU will have to be OFF the island.......because u have been already there for 60days in a 90days period

My company hold $100 of my salary and it wasn't stated in our contract. According to the HR, it is company's policy, new employee will be deducted $100 of their salary for 10 months and those money will be used to pay income tax which is not personal income tax according to her. What exactly is that income tax?  She said every company should have that but my previous company never deduct anything.
*
Maybe you can go and find out more details on this?so far I have not come across this before. Even the S pass levy isn't that expensive...or else head to MOM/IRAS for this....

Yes...age limit to enter/serve the 2 year NS for Singapore should be at 25....I got my PR when i was 26...whew...but anyway I was the 1st gen Singapore PR...so I was exempted...this was almost 4 years back.....
That exemption letter will be sent to you by the MOD(Ministry of defense)

Is it true that there are more single girls/women than men/guys in Singapore? or is that just some rumour?
*
I would agree to a certain extend...here's my thought on this
Girls/women would have start working earlier..due to guys having to serve 2 years NS....
By the time the guy starts working.......the women would have some 'spending power' already.....plus with those few years of working experience in her pocket compared to a guy of her age.

Got a few of my colleagues/ex-colleagues/church members....husband is Singaporean...but wife from across the Causeway....
I've so far only come across 1 couple....wife is Singaporean but husband across the Causeway

not really...its really easy if u wanna move on to another job....unlike when u r on S Pass/EP....gotta wait for APPROVAL...if not approve then you're stuck!!..with PR.....as long as u get the company's offer letter...you're good to go already

I am in telecommunication, doing RF optimization. The previous company told me that there's no reason given for my rejection which I find it a bit odd but some dai kor here once tell me that it is possible for no reason to be given for rejection.

however my salary is slightly higher than the EP qualification (even for the new scheme that suppose to start on 2012) and i'm holding a degree which is recognize by Sg so i think it should be ok for my side but yet again anything can happen.

as for the new co, it is not exactly a bigger co because my current employer is quite a giant player in telco but it's from china (you might able to guess who), but the new co might have better reputation which makes me easier to masuk, so... i really dunno what to do man.
