Bro, I'm not sure how it works(unless they written some ID or NAME tagging). Look, those information are all from the research without any first hand information.

Thanks Venice, I got the update from the EP online stated there "Approved". Later on, I called my HR and she said since they haven't yet check email today and she will confirm to me again later. Guess I got to start work by 1st August and before that my HR told to have a medical checkup(Guess I'm going up Singapore by tomorrow or Wednesday).
I wish you all the best in getting the permit. Good Luck.

tat means even for appeal,
can check through EPOnline https://eponline.mom.gov.sg/epol/PEPOLENQM008SubmitAction.do, right?
Guess I still have to wait somemore.
How long have u been waiting? particularly for appeal, not including the period of your first time submission.
*
Ya, that's the link to check the status. As for the duration, I think my HR submitted the appealing letter on the 15th July so was about 1 week and 1 day for working hours.

Hi Bro,

When your company submitted the appeal for you, will it shown in the website when u check your status? Or is there an update on the application date or everything there will remain the same until there’s further approval?

My application is on 13th July and rejected on 20th July. I am guessing my company submitted the appeal around 22nd, how many working day is there for them to give u a reply?

Thank you so much for your help.

even the owner is so willingly to pay the 50%,
but then I thought through agent, u need to follow a contract like somewhat need to rent for 1 year right?
I heard there is 1 year lease contract.
Correct me if i am wrong.

Venice, you got your pass ad?
Anyway getting rent house through agent is wise choice. It is hard to find rooms for rent these day. Those agent has wide community to contact all over the place, just drop them the needs that you likely to biggrin.gif

Hi guys, I'm an IT graduate just fresh out of the woodwork and I'm planning to work in Singapore for the next few years of my life if things work out. I'll be going there around there next week to scout for a suitable position, so I would highly appreciate if anyone could give some pointers on what to do there.

Also, I've noticed the recent 1st July changes regarding the criteria required to fulfill to qualify for an EP, which mentions that a professional has to have a base pay of at least 2.8K SGD. Does this mean that in the event that an employer decides to hire a foreigner, they MUST pay him/her this amount, by minimum? In my view, I don't think any company is in the right mind to pay a freshie this much.  hmm.gif

If I manage to find an employer, but I fail to get an EP or S pass from MOM, does this mean that the outcome will be the same even if another employer is willing to hire me?

Anyone has good and useful tips, please do. Next TT is on me if I get a job there  thumbup.gif
*
In IT there is no freshie just how much you know in your technical field(This does inclusive with your programming skill). I know somebody out there might speak Singapore IT market is now all covered up by India because they are good in these field. I'm certainly not agree since the job demand in this field is damn high in the recruiting site. I advice to find a job through online than coming here directly to scout around.
As for your pass, I couldn't assure the requirement because I got my housemate at 2k SGD per month but still getting an Epass. So I guess most of the company are trying to avoid the levy pay. In another-hand, failing for the pass application might not lead to an end. Just keep trying for 2nd and 3rd time or appeal it according to the mistake that you had made previously.
Once again Good Luck.

BTW, now I am trying to look for room to rent too.
But feel tat paying to agent is not worth and somemore there is 1 year contract.
What if you move in then only you found that you dont like this or you dont like that?
Then u cant do nothing but to stay for up to 1 year.

hey, so how's ur situation in SG?
Started work ard? Done medical checkup? Got ur IPA letter ard?
Where you stay btw? and how much room rental? mind to share?
*
I'm good in Singapore everything looks smooth for the moment. Anyway my work starting on the 1st August and this far I only done up to medical checkup and my HR will issue me the EP appointment once I submit my medical report. Currently I'm staying in commonwealth which I paid for 350per month(without AC) sharing with another roommate whose my hometown neighbor. The only benefit is 5-10minutes walk away from MRT station. Well we gone through agent as well since we couldn't find any best fit the needs tho.

Even if that company doesnt employ foreign workers, they should have a panel doctor who could assist them when it comes to the mom medical requirements for foreign workers seeking employment in singapore.

Plus the fact that the guy had to pay for his medical check up is just icing on the cake.

I'm kinda not sure of this company, but it is 2 years old company.

QUOTE(ivanswk @ Jul 29 2011, 01:40 PM)
long ago, as career progress decided i have the mean to rent a small hdb on my own, so i call agent i saw in the internet which advert a location nearby where i am staying in boon lay, the place is 2 bedroom, where landlord lock one room up, so i get the whole hdb on my own, i went and view it, omg i was like, the place look so nice, and renovated look like a ikea show room with alarm fitted. the agent told me, the landlady, single stay with his boyfriend.  smile.gif

i saw the old lady she look nice and quiet, and she mention she come back once in awhile cause she still have some stuff in her lock room, i pay the rental with deposit and agent commision fee and sign the dotted line

the horror begin. sad.gif

after i move in then few day, i found out the landlady actually staying in the house exactly opposite, that the boyfren place, feeling like being watch, then i look carefully, i think she watching with a binocular from the opposite side, then as i felt that got people touch my stuff when i went back malaysia, i did a test i purposely  put my cloth according to certain arrangment, indeed when i come back i saw somethign is move, so she is ransacking my stuff and this is only the first month ,  then it get worse the landlady starting to accuse we temper with the door lock, and we over using the electronic good like the washing machine, i was like  rclxub.gif we got the key to the door why ..we want to temper the door lock

then it get worse she call my office and checking on me, asking my snr, how my work performance, lucky my snr is close with me , she came back very often in the middle of nite to her room to take stuff, banging the door, waking me up.

finally i decided, although the contract is for a year, we mutually agree to revoke and i left, i stay for two month i think , i thought i was unlucky only

after thing back to normal.. i look back

i can say the whole thing is a conspiracy .. do u see IT  vmad.gif
the agent is in IT  shakehead.gif (case 1)

wtf lol "binocular"!!
Luckily u shifted out. Well my landlord was mentioning about heavy electricity too. Said that switching on another fan is waste when I felt it is actually hot weather in the night with just single ceiling fan. I told him that only it will be switched on at night time, but unfortunately he said that "this is his house and his rules" if I can't follow then it is better that I look for another better air circulation room after the end of contract. OMG!! One Stand fan was like 50w where the hell it will cost him that much of electricity bills. Haizzz.... doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif
