Why is dual channel ram is so important for this product target consumer?

2k+ is the lowest price range.

Between rm2k to rm4k, how many with 2 ram slot ( that allow up to 16gb ram) that has a nice screen?

In other words, how many below rm4k laptop can go 16gb ram that has a nice screen?

Brah, people buy it just because it’s only RM1k, not because it’s a beast machine or so.

If want to spend RM2k-3k for an ultrabook, X395 will be the smarter choice. But from value point of view, you paid extra RM2k more than a RM1k thinkbook, but the performance and experience gain is hardly 2x.

You will get accustomed to the 40ish ms delay, all laptops are like that, even those highend panels like X1 Extreme’s 4K 500nits HDR display does so too. The tech and general market demand hardly complain about it, as it’s also part of the formula to keep your laptop battery lasting longer. High resolution, high brightness and high refresh rates will all eat up your laptop battery faster.

However, there’s an exception - OLED display for some ultra premium laptops, which had arguably better image quality and reaction time. But not only does it cost you more than an arm and a leg, it’s also having issue with PWM brightness control, which can totally spoiling the premium experience after you paying for >RM10k for your laptop.

One RAM slot available without any soldered on.....officially only up to 16GB, but a 32GB memory module should be supported.

Anyway can make use with DDR4 2666mhz?

Anyone using T490s, just wanna check with you for the trackpad, cause my T490 not as good.

I actually like the slightly rough PPC trackpads. Prefer them to glass, infact. Problem is, if it's anything like my old X220, the sandy surface will wear out due to oils from your fingers and the sensitivity will drop. I don't use trackpads that often (I'm a keybinding + TrackPoint guy), but I just don't want it to end up with a big black oily blob in the middle like my old one.

Hey guys, anyone here using the T495 with the 3500U CPU? Would like to check on your idle and load temps, I'm having a problem where on idle, it's north of 80C and when I do image export on Lightroom (raw to PNG) it will go up to 97+C and throttle down freq to ~800hz.

Brought this to the service center, technician mentioned this might be normal for AMD CPUs.

P53 has bad cooling, even with more powerful hardware it couldn't perform well. Do you really powerful hardware though.

While it was tempting to wait for R4000 refresh, Q2 can be anywhere from 1 - 4 months away, and the price at launch won’t meet my budget probably - if I look at where the current E14 model are priced.

Hey bro, so sorry for the late reply! I missed out the noti and didn't check out the thread for a long time     
As for my issue with the charging, it's solved now. I think the problem was because the Japan voltage wasn't the same which cause the charger to be so unstable (it was fine when I first arrived in Japan). No more issue after I returned to Malaysia since February.
Btw, I am getting this Thinkplus Lipstick 65W Charger from ThinkPad Official Flagship Shop for it's small and light features!

As for the issue you faced, I've never face it so far. Even when it was off, it just able to charge properly so far.

But sometimes I have issue with the trackpad, just can't move the cursor. Was thinking if it was my finger oily or with sweat on it. But usually if I just put it to sleep and boot it on after just few seconds, the problem resolved. Wonder if it's my trackpad problem or not.

I've contacted for the trackpad issue and they said will check the part availability and may send staff over to replace it.

To be honest, X395 much better than T490

I'm also very satisfied with the laptop. Performance wiise totally suit my needs. Battery life acceptable for me, but believe it could still get better. But one thing I was unhappy was that the build back in August 2019 was not allowed to get Fingerprint sensor on 300nits display. Recent build it's allowed dy. Just additional RM38 for such a convenient function. I really wonder is it possible to install one in the future lol.
