Hi there, i have a SL410 which had served me well all these years but i wanted to upgrade the RAM from the current 2gb.

I checked online and am confuse as some said it's supposed to be up to 1600 mhz and some says it's just 1066mhz.

Which version should i buy actually? i know max it's up to 8gb ram and i plan to add another 4gb just to basically surf the net.

thanks

Open command prompt as administrator

type in

wmic memorychip get speed

It will show

C:\Windows\system32>wmic memorychip get speed
Speed
2133

Buy 1066 if the speed shown is 1066.
Just buy 1600 if the speed shown is 1600.

Hmm.. it's shown as

C:\}wmic memory chip get speed
Speed
800

Question - is there a 800 MHz?

DDR = Double Data Rate, so if it's showing 800 MHz X 2 = 1600 MHz which is rated speed.
Download CPUZ to confirm.

Another option is open it at the back of your laptop. Check whether it's DDR3 or DDR3L.

If not mistaken, it should be DDR3L . You need to check to confirm.
