It is usually okay to mix the MBs of the ram, so 256 + 512 is fine. (why no one asnwer this question for me one? I just want to be 100% sure before I kill my baby!!)
But about the brand, usually there isnt any prob with Kingston/Twinmos but I am not so sure in this area though normally most notebook shops knows which 3rd party ram to use
.Also based on your spec stated earlier, most likely you're using PC2700 DDR type of ram. Important when buying
If ventilation fan is killing you, try getting a nb cooler?
