 How to gain weight ?

im 154cm and 38kg now...i need to gain some weight coz alot ppl said tat im too thin sad.gif
any ways to gain weight by healthy method?

i have this same problem too! worse than yours.... 160cm but only 39-40kg.... shocking.gif i always get condemned by people who dont know my situation.... they think i refuse to eat jut to stay this thin.... mad.gif but the fact is i can eat all i want, feeling hungry and eating every 2 hours but still this size.... soon, i learn to accept how i am, just think of it as a priviledge that i'm able to eat without b1tch1ng about my weight.... tongue.gif and later when those same people see the amount of food i eat per meal, they quickly get embarassed and shut up.... in fact they began to envy me.... blush.gif so if you've tried for many years and nothing seems to work, just accept it gracefully.... smile.gif coz i heard that some women will get fat and difficult to shed those weight after they had their first child.... ohmy.gif

yes me too.... the max i've went to is 43kg.... but exam stress that time, it went back to the usual constant around 39-40kg most of the time.... sweat.gif

since cant change the fact, then just accept that i have super high metabolism rate lo.... at least we have a perk that can compensate, that is we can eat all day without worrying about growing too fat....

if you want to gain weight, what you can do is reduce your metabolism rate.
because i'm fat, and i have very low metabolism rate
but sometimes when my metabolism rate increase, even though i eat the same amount of food, i still loose weight
so you shall try the opposite

For most part of my life, I'm like that too. Eat eat and eat... But cannot gain weight. I also don't like the way I look, too skinny.

These days, I eat a lot of carb. I sleep on time. I eat on time. I also eat breakfast. For my meals, I eat a lot of rice and pasta.

In the end, my BMI improved from underweight to normal, and I feel so much better now biggrin.gif

me n my twin facing same problem too.
i'm 145cm tall and 32kg.
my twin 140cm tall and 25kg. much smaller than me.
she have heart complication when she was little.

Angin tiup can terbang.

I think my twin eat alot than me.
I dont eat that much, that I suffered gastrix every week. No i'm no bulimic.

I think it's our genetic that our metabolism is high, just like my mother.

I think we gotta start to eat healthily and on time. More carbs. More red meat.
But i'm afraid by eating too much, wud add colestrol eventhou u dont gain weight.

Actually Decreased metabolism rate is killing urself. No one like a low metabolism rate. If u wan to decreased your metabolism to gain weight, u will become a very unhealthy body.
Gain weight can have alot ways, gain weight can be divide into 2 type
One is Gain Muscle Mass
one is gain Fats
Or Both

get protein-rich drinks, and work out a bit. do this in a couple of month, and you should gain some weight - muscle and fats both at the same time.

and yes, you do not want a decreased metabolism rate.

I got the same problem as you before, back then I was 36-40kg only now I'm 40-43kg blush.gif what I did were I took several small meals and snacks throughout the day to gain weight and keep it on.

Most importantly need to eat until you’re full. For girls like us who feels too skinny the experience is quite uncomfortable at first. It felt like your stomach stretch apart becoming too tight, but had to resist in order to gain the calories required to put on some weight.

Also try to eat every two or three hours. Carry your food with you. Try to select foods that are high in protein, moderate in fat and high to moderate in carbohydrates. I used to make breakfast by heating one cup of oatmeal, then adding a scoop of protein powder. Peanut butter is next, along with some fruit to sweeten it up. This gives me everything I need for a complete meal and it will definitely fill you up.

hi there, i am a guy and a fitness expert. I can help.

Contradict to what u must do, u must workout, lift weight.
Weight dun have to be too heavy, but you will feel the challenge as you hit number 10 or 11 or 12.

When u work, ur body repair the muscle, then u grow larger n heavier. But is not fat n bulky oh... is sexy!

How to work? You have to search online or ask around cause it is too lengthy to explain here.

im facing the same situation here. haha. i would like to gain more weight but not really worried bout what people say to me. its not that i skip my meal, but the problem is im still thin. lol.

gain muscle instead of fat... u will surprise if u step on d scale.. muscle is denser thus weigh heavier than fat.. girls shudn't b afraid to get some size of muscle..

ps: i doubt that if u jz eat n expecting to gain some weight.. d weight u gain would put on ur belly n thigh.. imagine urself - a skinny girl wif big belly ..

One idea is to take weight gain product from GNC plus some exercise, this will help in your weight gain, and in your meals, try to take more carbo (rice, potatoes, pasta) and also some more dairy fats like cheese

Hey I am male and 183 cm and 75 kg ideal weight. Yes i go to gym to keep myself fit but i was not always this. I was like 60kg then i start going to gym and taking care of my diet. I would recommend to eat less but 5 to 6 times a day and eat whatever you like and drink as much as you can. Just do it for at least a month and sense the difference.

Hi all,

Go check those GNC outlet, they have those protein powder and I swear by it because I saw my husband gain 5 kg of weight within a month, his appetite increase to 5 big meals a day, his junk dinner alone consist of 2 x fillet "O" fish and 1 x Mac Chicken...faintzzz. Supper is 1 loaf of bread and 1 litre of milk, mind you he is not forcing himself but he just gets hungry too fast, of course that is what he wanted as he hit the gym thus converting those fats into muscle.

Ohh and that was 5 years ago, now became couch potato..lol

Do check properly before you proceed.

To gain weight, one must eat in a caloric surplus (more than your daily calorie intake).
For most skinny people, or we call them 'ectomorphs', they have above average metabolisms. That is where the statements like "I eat a lot also cannot grow fat!".
It simply meant that they haven't ate enough.


Different foods have different calories.
Consume more proteins, fats and carbohydrates.
Emphasize more on fats, especially unsaturated fats(olive oil, fish oil, almonds, walnuts etc.) because they would help produce enzymes and hormones that stimulates your appetite.


As you are pursuing a healthy way to put on weight, I will assume you would want to be fit.(It means you won't be heavier with fats, but muscles)
And don't worry, women's muscles are not like men.When you work out and build muscles, they will form your body into lean, toned beautiful curves.
So I recommend you do resistance training, or what we call weight lifting.Work on major muscles, which are chests, back and legs, and you will be on your way.

And to make sure your progress is happening, you need adequate hours of sleep. With rests, the body repairs itself and absorb nutrients to grow.
