Anybody know if this has been implemented? Means for cost saving for us laugh.gif

SAVE or Sustainability Achieved via Energy Efficiency, is a programme  aimed to improve energy efficiency in Malaysia through five initiatives.

The first initiative is to stimulate sales of energy-efficient appliances by providing rebates for refrigerators, air-conditioners and chillers to qualified consumers.

Under the initiative, qualified consumers who purchase electrical appliances that have five-star will be given a rebate up RM200.

For a start, the rebates would be for refrigerators and freezers for the domestic sector and chillers for businesses. RM200 will be given to a new refrigerator and RM100 for an air-conditioner.

The rebates would be given at the point of sale and the retailers would then claim the amount from the Government.

This government-funded initiative is part of Economic Transformation Programme,(ETP) and it is headed by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (MEGTW),

Government expected to announce the rebate on 7th July and it will cost the government RM50.2 million in 2011.

SAVE will be implemented through the collaboration between the Ministry and utility companies, Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Sarawak Electricity Bhd and Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd as well as the participating appliance manufacturing companies.

ESH gives good pricings if you nego. Normally they match Legend pricing if i let them know their price (not always 100% thoough). Aftersales service is good though.

Anyway on topic: You need to get the e-Voucher (got mine for A/C just now, fridge sadly not for me - consumption too high), take it with your electric bill and IC and go to the shop. then you get the discount.

Sidely sidestepping: I am planing on getting a new 5* fridge. Anyone has a voucher and doesnt want to use it in / around PJ and is willing to buy one with me at ESH SS2? Offering compensation wink.gif - PM me.

https://saveenergy.tnb.com.my/Public/CheckEligibility.aspx

you can check whether you are qualified or not by providing your electricity bill account number and other particulars.. the system will show you the results..

by the way, I'm working with one of those participating retailer.. sweat.gif

just sharing with you guys, you can try to bargain in some shops.. e.g if the price displayed for 5* fridge RM2799 try ask for RM2600 or as lowest as you can get coz some shops display the easy payment price (for customer who wants to use AEON Credit Service-ACS) so if you are going to pay cash, you can buy it at lower price... so if you have the fridge voucher you might get the fridge at RM2400 only.. anyway it's just an example..

When you buy, don't hesitate to bargain.. and most important, do some price survey 1st.. most shops offers price that are about RM150-RM100 higher/lower from their competitors.. make sure you get the best price... thumbup.gif

I suggest you to check here:

http://www.saveenergy.gov.my/rebate/partic...Filter=SELANGOR

This program is limited.. I cannot recall the exact number but I think for the whole nation including Sabah & Sarawak, only 100,000 voucher are given out. And then they split it between all the states not equally but depends on the populations. Small state like Perlis only got about 1% of those 100,000 vouchers...

So, this one works like 'siapa cepat dia dapat'...

This campaign starts 2pm today, so if you already check your bill account using the link I already gave, you can directly print your voucher if you are eligible and use it..

Err, it's kinda betraying my company, but as consumers I think I want to share this with you.. my supervisor said today that, we(salesman & staffs) need to hold our customer if they bring the voucher to our shop and never let them get away and buy from other shop.. biggrin.gif

So I think you can try ask the salesman and convince them that you really want the appliance, and pay some deposit..

p/s: And those vouchers can be used for appliances with 5* model only...

Hey guys.. The campaign works like this:

You can check your eligibility by providing your TNB bill account number here https://saveenergy.tnb.com.my/Public/CheckEligibility.aspx.
From what I've been told the system will check your bill for the past 6 month. From my observation today when the customer came to our shop and ask us to check their bills, if your bill is:

lower than RM50/month = eligible for aircond voucher only(RM100)
between RM50-RM100 = eligible for both aircond(RM100) and fridge(RM200)
between RM100-RM150 = eligible for aircond only(RM100)
higher than RM150 = might not eligible for both..

I cannot explain more on this, I'm just telling about what I saw today and based on my manager's briefing..I'll give you example..

Today, we've print the voucher for a customer namely Mr R.. So, this Mr R wants to buy fridge from our shop. The voucher only allow you to buy 5* energy saving fridge with nett capacity off 400L. So Mr R decide to take TOSHIBA fridge model GR-W26MPB with 240L capacity. Because he has been our loyal customer, we gave him the floor price (the lowest price for cash payment at our shop) which is RM880. So, Mr R only has to pay us RM680 cash and gave us the RM200 fridge voucher to us. As simple as that! drool.gif

The price may vary from other shop, but they cannot be too much difference I think..

And you can check here http://www.saveenergy.gov.my/rebate/ee-appliance-listing as reference for the model that are available, and then using that model, go to the official website of that brand and check the specifications coz I think the one provided here http://www.saveenergy.gov.my/rebate/ee-appliance-listing were kinda less accurate..

Is that helping? innocent.gif

Only the account's holder can use the voucher to buy the appliances. I don't think you can take your father's voucher from Perak and use it at KL.. Because that would bring trouble to the retailer(shop) when they're going to claim the voucher...

One voucher valid for one purchase only. because the voucher number generated when you print the voucher will be use by the retailer to claim from TNB. And you need to give your original TNB bill (the latest bill that you have paid) together with a copy of your IC to the shop when you want to buy the item.

rclxm9.gif

If you buy from retailer that have outlets across few states, you may be able to get the fridge using your father's voucher. However it depends on the retailer management itself.. Is this confusing? For example, if your father use his voucher to buy fridge from Courts Mammoth in Perak, if Courts's management allow their outlet in KL to deliver the fridge to you in KL, then it is okay..

I'm telling from what we have done. One of our customer bought the fridge from our outlet but ask us to send the fridge to her brother's house in Alor Star.. What we do is create the sales order using the voucher's holder name and address (the address on the sales order must be the same with the address from the TNB bill). The payment was also made at our outlet. Then we fax the delivery order to Alor Star outlet and ask them to deliver the fridge for us.

He can use his father's voucher if he has a photocopy of the original bill. Last I checked, you only need to submit a photocopy of the original bill and not the bill itself to the retailers. If the Ministry decides to check who bought the item, they have a copy of your IC anyway. As long as the voucher number is valid, you can redeem it.

As for the address of the sales order being the same as the IC/bill, that is dependent on the retailers. The voucher is not dependent on the address.

The program was created by the Ministry to encourage the use of energy efficient appliances. So, it really doesn't matter if you are buying it for someone else, as long as someone is using energy efficient appliances.

WTF? i also need to buy new fridge mah, this fridge rebate only can use for existing customer who change new energy saving fridge?

really 1-malaysia type of policy......

I actually been to one of their roadshow at Giant Kelana Jaya around 2 weeks ago.

You need to have existing account that has exceeded a particular amount for 6 months before you are eligible. (err it may be 3 months ... I forgot leh tongue.gif )

You can print the voucher from the website if you qualify. To go this go to the website -

http://www.saveenergy.gov.my/

They told me promotion last until around October (the officer at the roadshow)

There is a list of qualified appliances model (air-cond and fridge) and also a list of qualified vendors.

Go to these vendor and haggle and when you agreed the price then whip out your voucher and get the extra rebate. rclxm9.gif

Points to consider.
5-Star rated refrigerator and/or air conditioner, especially those with "inverter" (mainly air cond) are of course are priced at a premium.
The energy savings only comes in to effect when you switch on these air cond more than 8 hours each time. Less hours you end up paying more energy bills! doh.gif (the salesman from 2 of the appliance companies brand at the roadshow confirms this)

Based on this it might only makes sense to consider the fridge, as I believe not many people switch on their air cond at home more than 8 hours every time. blink.gif

I am not eligeble as mine is a newly purchased house that is now being renovated. cry.gif

Ahh you might want to check with TNB on this, and bring a copy of your bill. For the fridge, it is only eligible for people that use 200-400kWh per month for an average of 6 months. So your friend might not have qualified for the fridge. Aircond is open to all so most of us should get it..

You can find it here: http://www.saveenergy.gov.my/rebate/participating-retailers

As mentioned above, they calculate using a 6-month period, which is from Dec 2010 to May 2011 I believe.. and then if you are using 200-400kWh a month on average, then you get the rebate for the fridge

The retailers should give you the RM200/100 rebate on top of whatever offer price they gave to you. So if you haggle the price to RM1,000, and then give your voucher, you should get the unit at RM800 then.

There is no reason for them not to do so because the rebate is not funded by them, it is funded by the government. So the retailers will get their RM200 or RM100 back.

You can try asking the shop that is cheaper to sign up for the program. It doesn't cost them anything after all. That way, you can claim your rebate when they sign up.

You can get them to contact the people here to sign up smile.gif http://www.saveenergy.gov.my/about/contact-us

For the fridge, that is correct. You can check a list of models available under the brands on www.saveenergy.gov.my

If you are renting the place, you need to get permission from your landlord first. Then go into the website and click "I am not a registered TNB customer", it is basically a declaration that you already have permission to use the bill.

With the account number on the bill, you can then check which vouchers you are eligible for smile.gif

The vouchers can be printed in black and white. If you find any stores asking you to print in colour, then perhaps you can email the people listed on www.saveenergy.gov.my and highlight your issue.

I am sure they will be able to help you. Alternatively, you can also clarify on their FB page, https://www.facebook.com/SaveEnergyMalaysia

The requirement for refrigerator in Peninsula Malaysia is now revised to 800kWh so if you are not eligible for it before, you might be now smile.gif

If you notice, 400L and 500L energy consumption are only slightly higher.

got my fridge with the discounted price rebate after much problem and time rushing
time rushing cos i have to deal with everything myself for my new house..
anyway..
managed to get it finally
the thing is i've just applied for my meter in August.. after reading here seems have to meet some quota fo kWh before can apply so I used my sister's bill instead

and i had to goto SESB (Sabah) to get it printed after knowing my own bill is not accepted (they mention, those that applied for new metre from May and earlier has good chance to get approved, while mine in August.. figures)

so used my sister's one and I got it smile.gif

When you fill up the rebate form, it will ask for the TNB account number, name and address.
Must the name and address match the TNB account number?

Which state are you in? If you are from Peninsula Malaysia, then you don't need to match it. Just need to declare that you are not the owner of the account. Then you can use your own name and address.

To use the vouchers, the person would need the TNB for that account and also your IC copy before he can use the voucher to purchase.

I just brought a fridge on Jusco member's day using the rebate. Pretty huge discount. But one small problem is that there is a limit to the size of your fridge.
