but actually when u connected to KIES, does it really show you something regarding updates? like no updates will pop up no updates, and otherwise. Plus i only see list of my contacts, pictures, videos, etc, no firmware is displayed in the browser.

Wanted to try on K9 but one thing made me keep going back to default mail client. I'm using 2 email account, 1 is hotmail and 2nd is my company email(POP Server), by using the default email client some how it will manage to configure automatically as push mail and it actually works tested on that.  Where on K9 i only can configure it as poll account and no idea how to configure it as push.

I tried to push email via K9 but unable to. There is another forumer who gave me instruction and I followed through 100% (am using Yahoo) but for some reason, not able to connect to server for IMAP yahoo.

Did I miss out anything?

Also, stock email has push email for all (Yahoo, Live etc) right?

i rarely clear the memory. just after the lag in gallery i tried ony.. btw im just using internal memory. because before this, very fast when opening the gallery now it seems to take forever. last time it was only first time. now is like almost everytime.

about the imei, i meant was custom rom will not show our imei like the stock rom rite? cause i checked in the service menu, it is not available.

i try to use adb remount, but it show:

remount failed: Operation not permitted

why this is happening?

Hello Galaxy S2 pioneers,

I just want to ask how is the music audio quality? The S2 uses a Yamaha DAC which is not very highly rated compared to the Wolfson DAC in the Galaxy S. For those who upgraded how is the sound quality compared to the S? For those who have used iphone 3gs/4 before how does it compare? Music playback is very important to me so I have to find out first before I jump in.

is it correct that what it did is create 1 EFS folder in the sdcard in .tar format,
and the other 1 is the image file in the EFS folder

even tho i followed the guide, im confused,
what are we going to do with it if we happen to corrupt the EFS folder?
how are we going to restore it?

MY EXPERIENCE WITH GS2 AND DIFFERENT ROMS/STOCK ROM
Been playing with a bunch of roms for awhile and here's some finding's I'd like to share:

1) Villainrom is quite a bit of a PITA to use because there are a lot of patches that need to be added. Other roms are usually cooked up-to-date by the cook and comes very close to perfect.

- You can customize before flashing the ROM... everything can be done if in zip file.

2) Baseband KE7 baseband after battery calibration gave me best battery life

- My best modem so far is DXKF1

3) KF2 kernal gave me some random shutdown issue. Flashing back to KF1 has been the most stable.

4) Our firmware is from Singapore. The stock firmware can be downloaded here:

It took me a bit of digging to find the correct firmware with correct CSC. If you wish to use samsung apps, you have to make sure the CSC is correct or a lot of the functions wont work. Most of the custom Roms on XDA have different (their localized) CSC.

5) Hacked google nav is excellent, no longer need to bother with PAPAGO. HOWEVER, the robotic voice is absolutely horrible..

6) One rom that is close to perfect is TK Rom 3.0.8. However for some reasons "Samsung Apps" was left in there and because the CSC is incorrect for our region, the app is pretty much useless. If you were to flash back all the samsung apps as per the rom's thread, you will find that almost none of the stock samsung apps work since the CSC is incorrect.

- You can flash any CSC using Odin or customize your .zip file before flashing (prefer the latter coz it won't wipe the phone).

TK Rom + baseband KE7 + KF1 Kenal is the most stable rom I've used so far. However, to "perfect" the rom, you need to install root uninstaller (android market) and remove the samsung app. Install GO Launcher and speed up the transition speed. You will no longer feel the transition lag between pages. It's about 95%, if not 100%, as smooth as iOS.

I am now trying Cognition S2 which also seems to be a very well made Rom.

-Good ROM and almost stock, but pay particular attention to the kernel coz the dev compiled his own kernel.
