yeah can fit any occassion
but also need to see for what kind of fishing oh
esp jigging and casting, needs to be a little lightweighted
as for brand i have not much ideas as I've only tested few rods
but thinking over it again, my hollow type is nice cos lightweighted but if go to deep sea.. i will be in big big trouble
so now maybe need to look for new ones cry.gif
QUOTE(bomberkenny @ Aug 3 2011, 11:07 PM)
Hehe, I don't pay too much attention to the rods. I always buy cheap cheap rods about RM50. To me any rods can use for any occasion.

I always hear sometimes can break even with the cost that you're paying for the boat fare
can share your experience in this area?
Eg. u pay rm300 for a 3 days, 2 nite trip fishing in deep sea, u caught many fish and sell it when u reach the shore
how much is your loss and gains for this scenario, can share with us? (only fish sales - boat fare)

let's share the knowledge esp for noob like me smile.gif

TIA

ah ic, so depends on the luck as well eh. Oh well, then need at least one that has experience in what to do when get back to the shores. But I guess the boatman would help as well smile.gif
thx

lemax cheap but trustable, fuji rings are better with braided lines, rods depends on your spool, heavy spool - ligh rod vice versa.

Its not everytime you go deepsea fishing u will come back with alot of catches, if you do, keep the ones you can keep, the rest either u sell or u give it away, since i consider it a hobby and also its expensive to spend on deep sea, if theres alot of catch i will sell them RM2 cheaper then thier market price and sure people will buy from the condition of the fish caught are shiny and still smiling

yeah bro, going with 1 or 2 frens would be the best plus for first time at sea sure need someone teach bit. Perhaps your best bet is to find someone here that would be able to organise one. I myself haven't been to the deep ones.. just beside pulau only for me. Decent in numbers but not size, 3 of us went out with a small boat RM50 per person. Came back with around 20 or more fish, mostly kerisi, bulat, kerapu and pisang. Mostly caught using appolo style. Boatman was bit inexperienced but did get us to couple of good places while moving around in the boat.

like max said, no need expect it to be super nice. It's more like a sampan just bigger and at least got motor lah haha
to be decent, if they bring around 8-12 ppl per trip, those boat are much better usually may provide food, place to sleep & bathroom. Prolly target those wooden boat ones may be cheaper than fiber i think.

I still yet to get into one of these! arghhh

Bah, I always dreamed of going to the sea to fish. But I don't have any friends or family members so sporting to go with me. The most they can is just to go pay ponds, that's why, Shoot@M3, I don't have the need to keep a jigging/popping rod yet.

Say, anyone has got any fishing trips to plan in the future in west Malaysia?

Max, u mean RM180 for that 3-4 person?
QUOTE(max_cjs0101 @ Aug 4 2011, 11:14 PM)
Well, you can easily fish at Port Klang waters by renting boats.
A 3-4 person boat costs about RM180 from 9am til 5pm. Petrol included but dont expect the boat to be super awesome.
*
I guess we have the same rate here bro smile.gif
QUOTE(fookie @ Aug 5 2011, 05:03 AM)
last year i rented a boat around 100bucks for 2 person around lumut area. targeted fishes are jenahak, siakap, mangrove jack and groupers. and guess what, the stupid boatman brought us to fish sha chim(whitings) niamah. dulan 9 me. but catch was so-so. got a few table size jenahak, <1kg. smile.gif

around the same price that im getting on my side as well.
@ bomberkenny,
from the prices stated here u can roughly estimate how much for you to plan for a day trip of fishing there as well. 9am to 5pm, more or less
as for me i'm now eyeing on the 2 days 1 nite or 3 days 2 nite trip here
2 days 1 nite my colleague said, may cost around rm150 to rm200 plus depending on how many joining that time.

but i still yet to be able to get my tools ready for the deep waters hehehe
QUOTE(max_cjs0101 @ Aug 5 2011, 04:18 PM)
Yes, 3-4 persons for around RM180.
I think the boat got no bumbung 1 but there's enough fuel from Port Klang to Pulau Ketam.

the place is quite quiet, with really less boat coming in and out of the river and best of all.. not much sangkut! I always lose my weight if at the old place...

but since my body is big,, this new place bit shaky for me cos the walkway u know lah, for sangkar ikan one smile.gif

hi barney,

I'm still waiting for more info from him in the local forum. I'm not really active in there but he said he still can provide rental if need as he 'don't really know' me personally (I would do same as well esp you don't want simply rent ur eq to ppl u duno) plus he will charge some deposit as scared we lose his gears in the sea!
If I got any updates from him, I will let you know
As for the deep sea trip.. i still yet to wait any plans from my colleague. He just came back from survey so he's kinda tired for now..
if you're serious, maybe add me as buddy so we can keep in touch lah

Fish On!

I guess you would start with river and pond fishing?
got sell cheap cheap rod in Giant supermarket as low as RM80 per set with rod, reel and mono line(nylon) - I started with this and upgraded 2 mths later when I'm more serious about fishing
if you fish before and have some experience, or wish to get better stuff for ur starting, budget around RM200 to RM400 for rod, reel & braided line(silk line) plus some extra for your tools. Rod no nid to be so expensive, find one that suit you so you will fish more. Better reel for longer lasting

Tmr i will go back to sangkar ikan.. totally no sangkut anymore that place and I like it cos got place to rest hehehe

Fish On!

alamak, also no pricing online so i can't refer or compare on that ocean site
kepong tackle also site no pricing one
last time max posted some sales brochure but not the ones i was looking for

For the record, there are 14 fishing tackle shops here at my place in KK, Sabah. Yeah I know that after a hard work surveying around. 2 of which I haven't been to yet. 1 is likely ghost shop cos I never found it except in Google and wikimapia!

I usually go to one nice shop to hunt my stuff but if for reloading stuff i'd go to another cos it's nearer and closes quite late

Most of the fishing tackle shop here ah.. closes at 5pm or 6pm one... which makes it hard for me to hunt after working hours.. only those that are in shopping malls closes quite late same like the mall itself, which is a good thing for me still

btw just saw this guy, seems he got shop so prolly you guys can check out prices from him

aww too bad, this crab i think is highly demanded in market and the price quite high.
I ever caught one before.. using tackle, fluke shot and hook at the legs
my fren got one and i got one not long after.. it came out during really really heavy rain with fierce wind.. we waited till it clears and the first thing we got wasn't fish, was these ketam haha

nice catch tho, if during the season catch sure catch a lot and kenyang ketam smile.gif
