Some people like to tire the hell out of the fish or playing tug of war, don't do that. fish build up lactic acids during fights, which oxygen depletes. putting them back into the water and having them swim to get oxygen to reduce the acidity. the best way of helping the fish to get oxygen is to hold the fish and push its body, mouth against the current, to let more water into its mouth. fish can't breathe if they don't swim, but if they are to tire to swim because of exhaustion, you need to make water flow into its mouth.
but sometimes you think it's a big fish that you must take photo, do it fast, and make sure everyone's in the picture (don't pass the fish one person to another to take picture, it'll be more fatal the longer it leaves water)
