i've just updated mine to .40 gen1 a few minutes ago. i didnt unroot it, just straight away download and update. after update and restart, root is still there. very smooth and painless update i would say.

I use gps test to err test the gps function. Put it side by side with my moto defy then compared the time they took to get a signal lock. Unfortunately even with faster fix my iconia still took around 30 seconds while defy took just 9 seconds. I just did the test twice so I dunno how accurate it is. Test was done on 2nd floor of my terrace house near the windows. I haven't really test the gps outdoor though. Anyway, the iconia is somehow an underrated device, probably because there's no advert about it and then maybe because its an acer? But so far I think it worth the money spent, we got full usb port, Dolby speaker which sound great even at full volume and out of the box support for microsd card. A bit heavy maybe but I use it with a stand most of the time. 2 thumbs up for the iconia

Gprs or GPS?
I assume u asked about GPS. If u have a dedicated navigation software(with built in maps) like papago, sygic etc then its possible to use it without connecting to internet.

U can always ask google for the answers. Just type your questions like u ask here and i'm pretty sure u would get at least a few correct answers.
Btw, to remove or add widget, just press and hold. Drag to bin to remove.
And WTH! (Welcome to Honeycomb)

just use it as it is for now, its better and safer for new users of android. make sure to do system update to honeycomb 3.1 if your system is still 3.0 by default if you connect to the internet, you should get a notification on a system update. if not then maybe your tablet is already updated to the latest version. i myself wouldn't consider custom rom yet. everything is what i want from a tablet right now. i love using the tablet with a mouse

yes it can detect FAT32 but it takes quite a while to scan the disk. if u plug the disk into windows pc, windows also does the scan but we can skip the process. but as for android, unfortunately we cannot skip it. i think the scan process depends on how big the disk size and how many files are in it.

mine has 1 dead pixel. upon booting the tablet i will see a blue dot when the screen is totally black. since my tablet has 1 year warranty period, maybe its ok to wait until the 11th month for the warranty claim and then get a new unit?
