thank you for detailed explanation. mine is running on android 3.2 (never update, shipped is like that already).
already install few games and if possible don't want to re-install all of them again (my home internet is very slow). reason to root is want to use some software only for rooted device and use my usb 3g modem. thinking to try the link mention by Vail to root the stock 3.2 |

Did anyone knoe our iconia back cover is made by plastic pr alluminium? I read somewhere it says it is alu but some of them says it is plastic. But the feel is like a plastic paint to look like a brushed metal.

The feel is different compare to the sd card plastic cover door. Even it cold when in aircon room, not like plastic. I think maybe its a plastic with a metal plating.

QUOTE(Vail @ Nov 19 2011, 11:15 PM) About printing using USB port, depending whether the manufacturer has designed an app for the printer in android Thanks...using PrinterShare now...it works...maybe we can expect printer manufacturer come out with an app for usb direct connection soonIf you wanna print with A500, there are two apps thats good to be used Cloud Print https://market.android.com/details?id=com.p...loudprint&hl=en PrinterShare https://market.android.com/details?id=com.d...ntershare&hl=en But both doesnt work on USB |

i don't think it will work. perhaps, you can try and update us here.
instead you can try using hdmi to vga converter. |

QUOTE(pkchai @ Dec 6 2011, 05:11 PM) Yes, that usb port is a real wonder. is the on screen keyboard still come out when keyboard plugged in?If any Iconian would like to get a keyboard AND mouse to use without a cord, he/she can buy one for less than RM100. I bought a Logitech Wireless Combo MK220 for only RM59 at the latest PC Fair to use with my laptop. Out of curiosity, I slipped the usb dongle onto the A500 and found that the combo works! Mind you, Logitech doesn't say that the product works on Android devices, but it does. A bluetooth keyboard will work but at a much higher cost. So far, I've found that the usb port works with: (a) my portable hard disk drive (a Transcend Storjet 320 GB) (b) a usb corded keyboard © a usb mouse (d) a wireless combo keyboard/mouse and of course (e) a usb pen drive. Cheers. Added on December 7, 2011, 3:04 pm I read on the other forum claim that USB gamepad works on our iconia. anyone has tried the cheap RM30 USB gamepad? I plan to buy one.
